Brother in law is finally getting around to painting the outside of my house which was originally our wedding gift (he paints houses for a living, we got married 3 years ago).
Going from an old faded yellow to a nice clean blue and re-painting all the trim makes such a difference.

There’s currently something scurrying around in the attic and the cat is not happy about it.

Porch monkey is definitely a racist term right? yeah, don't think we should be tossing that term around lol
I would rebuild the porch. Keeps the value of your home.

It’s probably been mentioned already but has anyone been messing with solar? Our electricity bill doubled for a couple of months this year due to the record hot June and July. I know solar through some corporate seems to be a scam and the way to go is owning your own equipment. Anyone with experience here?

Anyone with experience here? i have solar. i wen't the lease route instead of owning just cause it was $0 down $50 a month and at the end of the lease i can either buy the panels for $1 or tell them i dont want them anymore(the panels degrade over time) and they gotta pay to remove them plus pay to replace my roof. i’m also rate-locked for any electric i need to buy from the utility company for 10 cents a kilowatt through the entire lease period and i was previously paying 13 cents per killowatt. i’ve had them for a few years now and def saved tons of money on my electric bill

Paying $350/mo for like 48 panels as opposed to $900/mo, and then when I am done paying itll just be the $~50 in taxes/fees. I took the rebate instead of rolling it into the payment, otherwise the payment would be $200 (i got $14k cash instead yes please).

I’m seriously thinking about financing and eventually owning a solar array based on the outlook the cost per kilowatt/hr will double in ten years. Just starting to take it in and do my diligence, always thought solar was a shell game but now I’m thinking I need to get going on it

We are pissed we payed $300 for a couple months this year as opposed to a typical bill of around $75. The utility warned us the cost would go up around 8% but multiply that by 23% extra usage on a/c this year so far lol. Everyone is complaining to their district congressman and they’re “sending a letter” to the BPU haha

Yea it gets to like 120 degrees where I live and I refuse to be hot and uncomfortable in my house, so AC is expensive.

For us gas is a way bigger issue than electric. Maybe this will be the year I get my wife to stop wearing tshirts in January and cranking the heat.

Maybe this will be the year I get my wife to stop wearing tshirts in January and cranking the heat. i run infrared electric heaters in the winter. cause i have propaina (propane) for heat and it’s crazy expensive. so my electric bill the past 2 winters i’ve done this has doubled, but my propaina (propane) bill has been less than half. overall save around $600 per winter doing it this way

Then I took an emptied sriracha bottle and filled with with baking soda, water, and a few drops of Dawn and put that over the top of the vinegar. All the dirt and grime comes right out with a little scrubbing.

Been on an interior design kick lately (probably because I moved recently). Reddit is a good place for ideas but I feel is just people bragging about how much money they have.
My favorite Youtube channels are Nick Lewis (for his sarcasm) and Dear modern (feng shui is a scam but I love his style of videos)

Building a house to be finished around June/July and hooting and hollering at all the interest rate cut news knowing we get to buy 2 points off of whatever the final rate ends up being

Two trees fell on my house this summer. Insurance is paying out around 50k. Should be pretty cool in a few weeks once these repairs are made.

yoooo so what's the deal with the interest rate cuts? am I going to get a bunch of letters in the mail trying to get me to refinance or should I wait for another cut or how's this work? I assume refinancing/rewriting a mortgage costs a couple grand in itself
I bought in the middle of last year so my current rate is high af 👍

I am currently looking to refinance with my mortgage guy I have been using since I bought my last house. Just bought my current house in March, so the cut will help my high rate a bit.

I’ll get the final price tonight or tomorrow, but I’m looking at around $30k for new siding, soffits, fascia, and gutters. Still waiting on the installers to get the materials :/
