I need a window AC unit for my sons room. It’s like 80 degrees on the second floor of our home when it’s 70 on the main floor. Any window AC unit recommendations? I considered portable AC but don’t think we’re gonna go that route. Oh, I meant “air conditioner” for the record. Not Anal Cunt. Just make sure to right size the unit to the space. Window shakers are pretty much all the same. Sized right a smaller unit will run slightly more and do better at dehumidification which is the real ticket for comfort. Too large of a unit for the space and you'll get short cycling which will end up with more temp swings, and long term is harder on the motor. www.calculator.net/btu-calculator.html

Does anybody look at their Zillow estimate just to watch the local market? My house has gained about 40 percent in the last year

Shame that only matters if you're transitioning to van life, moving to like the corn belt, or dying since you can't find a replacement in the current market

My Zestimate is twice the balance remaining on our mortgage. I fantasize about that van life

My house wen't up about 60k since I bought it in 2019. Often think about selling it and using that money along with my savings and buying a place in cash in the south. But then I’d live in the south.

My redfin estimate is up 80k since I bought it in November 2019. My only plan to sell would involve buying back in Massachusetts though, so it just needs to go up another 800k and I'll be good.

Morning renovation project. Walls built and first coat of mud for a dishwasher station/coffee bar in a place I'm fixing up. Also got the previous cabinet down and new outlets rewired. Wood top with a 4th coat of Waterlox .

anyone have any strong apinions about dehumidifier brands?
my 5 year old frigidaire dehumidifier apparently isn't working anymore. i took the drainage hose off in hopes it would drain into the reservoir to prove its still working. nothing in reservoir.
all the reviews on amazon are so sketchy. either 5 star or 1 star THIS IS JUNK IT WORKED FOR TWO DAYS I COULDNT' GET A REFUND shit.

Going through this trying to pick pavers for my patio. Online reviews are the fucking bane of my house projects. 2000 amazing reviews, 1000 reviews saying it breaks immediately or doesn't work, whatever. I usually remember that people are morons that treat their stuff like shit though

Maybe if it goes up 8,000% and there are actual houses to move into that aren’t flying at the same inflation so, back to never.

According to my median Zestimate my place (duplex) is worth 300% of what I paid in 2013. Hilarious.
I need to be serious and use this equity to refi, pay off my student loans and buy an investment property. The continual rise of the housing market has made me a bit weary to fuck up and buy too high or I would’ve already.

Idiot at my job did this recently. Bought a new house, 6 months later sold it for $80K over what he paid. Dude has 2 kids and a dog, now he's in a townhouse? Like what the fuck are you thinking? Now he's overpaying for rent and cramped as shit while shopping for another house he's likely going to overpay for.

No my house, but my grandfather's been having issues with his well, so we planned on replacing the well cap. Which is like 7 feet down. Got that all dug out and ran a leak down test and found out it was a shitty foot valve, so I had to pull 70 feet of double tube and put in all new stuff.

I live in a city but my house actually has a shallow gravel well in the basement. I pulled about 25 feet of pipe up by hand and had to clap it off and cut it with a grinder every 2 feet because that's all ya could bring up before it got the floor.. put new pipe down it and got a pump and now I have free ground water to water the lawn and what not. Was a sucky job but pretty fun to get an active well going in the middle of a city ibb.co/fddND7b

I grew up working in my dad's well drilling/service business... if the well is in the basement there's nothing you can really do but if the well is buried outside and uses a jet pump (the type you guys both have) the best advice I can give is have someone extend the casing above the ground and convert to a submersible pump. It's so much easier and probably cheaper long term to replace when the equipment wears out.
On another note, I'm demolishing my fire place and completely revamping my living room so pics will follow in a few weeks.

Bought my house back in Dec of 19. Only have one bathroom and my drippini has been giving me grief from the start.
Had to replace the pressure control valve just a few months after moving in because of a leak.
Was in my basement and noticed a new leak today. Previous leak I could see the water dripping down the PEX plumbing going up. This current leak is between the water supply and the drain. Going to have to call an actual plumber in on this. Luckily it isn't a big leak , but I'm paranoid so until I can get someone in my water main is getting turned off nightly and when I'm at work. Finding a plumber out this way is like pulling teeth.

Rented the same (or v similar) from HD to redo floors a few years ago. Very easy to use and does a fast job. HUGELY recommended over getting on your hands and knees with a handheld.

they work great, but for fuck's sake make sure you don't have any exposed nail heads. Sanding belts get spendy on those.

well at least it's stone, so you're getting weight for the money. Beats curtains.
