Got my attic redone with new insulation yesterday and this was the first morning I woke up with the temperature at where I normally set it.

Got some wet azz squirrel(s) coming in and out of our attic. We get the cute black kind so I don't have the heart to shoot/kill trap them, but live trapping and releasing is so annoying. Hopefully this problem just resolves itself!

The black squirrels are actually more aggressive! We have 'em around here too.
We had this gigantic wasp's nest in one of our bushes last summer, ended up taking 8 cans of wasp nest killer to get the thing off, and I kept only buying like 3 at a tie so this is something that took a matter of a whole business week.
Saw one flyin' around the other day, and my girl said she saw one in the garage(she is deathly allergic) yesterday. I am gonna be pissed if I have to do this shit again!!!

We had squirrels in my attic when I was a kid and my dad caught 28 of them over a few months before the problem stopped. Getting an exterminator in would add up.
I'll put up a live trap if I'm still hearing them in a few days.

Oh, not for the little squirrel boys. I meant for the wasps.

Get something like a bat cone. It’ll let the squirrels out and they won’t be able to get back in.

no but i don't need to do go around any outlets, i'm pretty sure i can just score and snap you may want to rent one or look on fb marketplace. I got one for $5 and it made the job way easier. Chances are your kitchen isn’t level so otherwise you’ll be doing a lot of fine tuning and those things crack very easily. Plus it’s a fun mostly harmless tool to use ngl. Also wish I’d gotten a laser level bc I nearly wen't insane triple checking each line. It’s a fun diy project and not that hard overall but I get putting it off too bc I did for months

Speaking of squirrels, my old neighbor used to rescue them. She had a cage outside and everything.
One time, we were supposed to split the cost of taking a tree down (on her property) and we had to hound her for the money. She eventually showed up on my front porch with a fucking dead-eyed squirrel crawling on her shoulder like some fucking weird ass suburban pirate. That's when she told us about her squirrel rescue project, or whatever.
When she foreclosed on her home and it was eventually purchased, my new neighbor and I were chatting. He filled me in on all the work that he had to do inside the home. She brought those fucking squirrels in the house as pets. He found their droppings and shit in the walls and ceiling. Every now and then, he swears they come up to him begging for food.

we have to do the windows this year and our sliding door to the back patio. quotes are coming in 13-15k. also tearing out the current raised deck and want to put in stairs down to a ground level patio but we're trying to find 900 sf of pavers on kijiji or something to avoid paying like 10k on it.
then we do the basement as its gutted completely and hopefully get a renter in.
at some point in there we're also fixing the fence thats leaning heavily into our yard. then we're in good shape and the only thing left to do is move into a nicer neighbourhood haha kill me

Spent the last two days making this trail. We’ve had these stones lining the flower beds in the front yard so I only had to pay for the paver base/sand. The plan is for it to lead to a shed and then planting some trees along the back fence.

Picked up a dining and console table from my parents' friends at a pretty good price earlier today. Still have to rewire or replace a few light fixtures and do some painting and tile work but it feels like the house is coming together after working on it/buying shit for it every weekend since we moved in February.

Getting my roof replaced Wednesday and I'm pumped.
Still waiting on the people to schedule my bulkhead replacement so I can get rid of this tarp in my yard and put my French drain in

After a day of yard work, my drippini never got hot yesterday. I go down in the basement to find water all over the fucking place. Seems an old copper pipe sprung a pinhole leak. Not sure when, best guess is sometime Friday. The tube insulators on the pipes worked like little water slides and lead all the water right to the top of the hot water heater, which shut itself down when it got too wet to run. To really add insult to injury, the leak is between the main shutoff and the first fixture so all I could do was cut the water off to the whole house.
Found a plumber happy enough to make emergency pay on a holiday weekend and he replaced everything between the main and the water heater with PEX which is cool as shit. He also wen't above and beyond drying out key area of the water heater I didn't even know about to try to get it running again but wasn't able to. Kept a fan on it all night to continue drying it out though and this morning it fired up again!
Now I'm off to try some natural deterrents on a groundhog that has dug extensive tunnels all around (but hopefully NOT under) my foundation. I really like seeing this cute bugger and don't want to call an exterminator if I can avoid it but this could be really bad for the house I've read.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Ohio from banning Callery pear trees aka the cum trees. They are officially considered an invasive species

After 2 years of being a lazy asshole, I finally have people coming out to give me quotes on upgrading my breaker box and installing ductless mini splits. I’m terrified they’re going to tell me they have to rewire the whole house.

Just had a quote for mini splits (3 units) yesterday, but am trying to figure out the MassSave stuff for those because the quote more than I thought.

We put in 3 mini splits a few years ago and they are the best. The heat doesn’t cut it in our huge living room but we have a pellet stove so don’t fuck with that one in the winter. AC is the best.

I bought an 86 inch tv for my living room and let me tell you, it is waaaay too big.
I wanted to wall mount it but it is going to take up 75% of the wall.
It’s sick though
