Fuck a lawn. I'm overseeding with clover this year to complement the dandelions. Clover is great and I usually overseed with it early spring. Definitely saves on having to buy fertilizers that do the same thing. Put some down about 3 weeks ago and it’s already popping off. |

so long as the weeds are green, I don't give a shit. This 100%. Right now the whole yard is a tie dye of wild flowers (weeds). It'll all be green in a few weeks though.

On the subject of yards, anybody with fenced yards trying to make a little extra money and don’t mind dogs should look into sniffspot app. I’d never heard of it before and I don’t know all the details, but I have a friend that has a fenced yard that is now a “private dog park”. It’s like hourly airbnb for dog parks.
People with no yard/close dog park or who have reactive dogs, can rent your yard by the hour to let their dog run around.

have a damp patch on a wall by the drippini. Had a plumber come around to find the cause. Says he's gotta take some dry wall out to look at the pipes. wont do that without a certificate saying our 1990 built house doesnt have asbestos in the drywall. So he left, $200 later. Asbestos test guy came today, $500 for the test of 3 samples.
Will get it all back from the insurance eventually but I deff should have been a plumber or something. No actual remedy done work at all and already $700 in lol.

Asked the HOA we pay hundreds to every month to confirm/deny presence of asbestos in the original building plans - you know how that wen't already. So paid for an independent test. |

as i typed that last comment, asbestos test results came in - no asbestos. Talked with wife and she had a good quarter at work so just gonna remodel the entire master bathroom rather than fix the one patch, but still gonna let insurance pay the guy to figure out what caused it and remedy before we remodel.

Asbestos was banned in 1977 and lead paint was banned in 78. Arguably some legacy stuff was in use for a couple years after, but any contractor giving you grief over that stuff in a post-1980 build is a scammer/moron.

Discovered I have horrible drainage issues in my yard and on my concrete patio. Basically need to repour the patio and install a French drain. Goodbye savings!

that sucks. I had to get a new French drain a few years ago and it's expensive but at least you won't run in to more problems like water in your basement.

left a lil tiny bit o' water in the hose and the pipe leading up to the spigot burst in three places. I did patch kits on 'em and the water doesn't spill out the sides, but there's another spigot down there underneath the house that just don't shut off no more and I'm probably gonna have to get the whole pipe replaced. Doesn't seem like that expensive a fix, but we have our wedding coming up and have all of our paychecks until then spoken for.

My parents driveway slopes down towards their garage and the drain they have couldn’t keep up with the amount of rain that fell after a massive storm last summer. The whole basement was under about eight inches of water. Everything on the garage floor was ruined as well as the everything in the half of the basement that was finished.
