Utility trailer upgrade today. From 5 by 8 Lowe's sale special to a decent level 6'x12' with over a ton capacity. Zero turn rolls on with plenty of clearance and a fullsize set of tires makes it roll smooth

I always forget to take good before pics, but I’ve been knocking out outdoor projects this year. Built the deck last year, but the area is on a slope so I built out some landscape steps and finally finished getting plants in the ground.

Bout to go take up residence in this kid’s playhouse at an $8.5 mill home that’s for sale a couple miles from me Edit: Just read the description again and it said the playhouse was on “TLC’s charmed playhouses” tv show so I googled to try and see the inside since it said it was 2 stories. Couldn’t find a pic of the inside but turns out it’s former Nats Ryan Zimmerman’s house lol

Woah, fantastic! Buddy looks huge. I think my best memory from working in the bush is coming face to face with a lynx. To have a wild cat show up in your back yard is priceless.

Got a quote for a new carpet for my bedroom. It's currently orange and horrific, but I'm gonna change it to a nice muted grey to compliment the sage colour scheme I've got going on right. Stoked to get the bedroom looking nicer. It was horrible and drab when I moved in.

Just about to the dollar the same monthly cost as our average bill was. Plus with all the incentives can help pay off the loan earlier. Also if we remove a tree we’ll create even more power. Suck it, Eversource.

Got another quote for mini splits today for $14k. Needless to say, I’m going with it. Just got quoted $18k today for mini splits LOL. For 1 on main floor, and 2 in bedrooms. Got a quote from same company 3 years ago for $11k and didn’t pull trigger then. Fml. Gonna get another company or two to quote

Suck it, Eversource. 25 year lease. $0 down and just $50 a month. i’m locked in at 10 cents a kw for the entire 25 years for any power that i don’t produce and need to pay for from the utility company. i was paying 13 cents before that and they could have raised it at any point. plus since its a lease if anything happens to the system they come and fix it for free (like if a tree falls on a panel). there’s a buyout price every single year of the contract, at the end of the deal it’s like $800 but the guy told me “if you offer them $1 they’ll take it cause otherwise they’ve gotta come remove the panels and replace your roof outta their pocket and it costs them around $15k”

window guys are here for day two. right now they're trying to unfuck the back patio door that the original owners put in (themselves?), i guess they poured rough concrete and just plopped the door frame into it while it was wet. they also just took a hammer or something to the brick to chip away until the frame fit. the fuck.
i ordered the guys a pizza yesterday, and i was gonna cook lunch today but then my partner said they might not want to eat someone else's food which is 100% true because i definitely wouldn't want to eat some stranger's pasta, but now what do i feed them? gonna order pizza again. i can't not feed them?

Mini splits going in next week! Question for anyone that’s had them done, did they need to turn off your power at all for any extended period of time? My gf works from home and needs to know if she’ll have any Wi-Fi issues.

I wen't from a 42" craftsman rider to a 54" zero turn a few years back. it rules.
the two houses across the street formerly occupied by old folks just got bought, so that's two lawns I don't have to mow anymore, and one of the guys is also helping me out with the park.

wen't from a 42 Craftsman too to a 46 Craftsman zero turn and yeah, it really rules. The engine is quieter so I can listen to podcasts and it's lame, but having a cupholder is soooooo fucking nice.

Had a crew in last week sink 43 posts for a fence and pergola and so I've been chipping away at it the past few days. Roughly doing two sections per day for a total of seven done so far:

Four Fujitsu units and a 36k btu condenser cost me about $14k. I had to have some electrical work done first, so all in I’m pretty close to $18k.

I've been wanting to put in some kind of fence so the dogs can hang free, but having the full fence installed is wicked expensive.

Roughly doing two sections per day for a total of seven done so far: This is rad -- how are you doing the sections? I've been wanting to put in some kind of fence so the dogs can hang free, but having the full fence installed is wicked expensive. Pretty simple, though a bit finicky with one person: the rails consist of three 2x4s going across set 1.5" in from the edge of the 6x6 post with a 2x6 cap rail on top. Top 2x4 rail is 6" down from top of post to be more or less congruent with a 6' high off the ground, of which the cap rail subtracts 1.5" for a total of 4.5" of post sticking up above the rail. Bottom supposed to be 6' below the top with the middle rail making up the difference (34.25"-37.75"). Each rail is screwed in twice on each side at an angle with 3" structural decking screws rated for ACQ wood treatment. I used some quick-grips and 2x2 cut-offs to set the rail end where I want it on the post. Cap rail is screwed more or less the same way, but from the top, and I sink two screws into the top 2x4 rail at about 1/3 and 2/3 the way across. Then finally the pickets are 1x6's screwed onto the rails at 0.25" spacing. Two 2.25" screws per rail, six per picket. The grade on our yard is really fucked up, so the newer sections not pictured have to step down quite a bit.
