I was at the lumber dealer last week trying to buy some 2x2 cedar for something I was building. They didn't have it on hand so I was putting in an order, and some fool meandering around the shop interjected saying I should just buy pressure-treated doug fir because they're "basically the same thing." I was thinking man, if Pat could hear this.

Going to have my septic tank pumped, apparently they have a dig a 6 foot hole so they're likely going to destroy my yard. Cool.

Finally biting the bullet on solar. Our power/water cost per month is outrageous (like $900/mo).
Battery is worth the extra cost, yes?

Also, it’s talked about a lot in this thread, but what the heck is a mini split? It’s like an in-between of a window a/c and central air?
If I have central air, but it’s horrible and keeping the whole house the same temp (freezing in my office, broiling in the living room), could I add these in addition to central air? (We’ve been told that making the central air better would require re-ducting the entire house).

Heating is gas. Our gas bill is only like $20/mo.

Also, how does the selling it back to the power company work? Like if we had a battery we could sell the excess, essentially? I feel so dense with this stuff, ha.

No, it's more like a regular refrigerant AC system, so same outside condenser, but inside instead of a single coil in your furnace that conditions the whole house and the only way to control it is to rebalance (or have some type of more commercial control that polls room temps) you can have individual room/space units with their own controls - newer ones will run multiple evaporator (room) units off the single outside compressor. No compressor noise, just a fan in each.

Been wanting to fix a fence gate on one side of the house and maybe add another on the other side but it being in the 90s by 10:30 everyday is putting it off for a few more months. Also the front yard looks good but it looks like I’m turning the back into narnia. Just dont feel like being out for that long.

I've put off buying a sprayer because I'm cheap, but I may just go for it before I do our bedroom. I've done two rooms since we moved by roller and life's too short.

even at California's kwH of about 25 cents, I don't have any idea what would cause that to be so high.
