Replaced several old two prong outlets with gfci outlets today and now there’s no power in the bathroom and the guest room. I didn’t touch anything in the bathroom and only changed one outlet in the guest room. I'm sure you already know all this but in any case, you'll need to trace back to where the power cuts out. I had something similar happen a couple years back and it was a screw that fell on a wire... I used an outlet checker(?) tool. gfci also have a reset button, so one of them might be cutting the power out or two might be canceling each other out.

There’s an outlet in the hallway that I changed which also isn’t working. I’m assuming it has to be either that one or the one that I changed in the guest room. I changed three in the master and they’re all working. They’re all on the same breaker so I know that isn’t the issue.

Yeah that's the best route if your not going to run dedicated grounds back to your panel. How your feed enters and distributed through the GFCI can be a little tricky just to make sure you're not killing downstream power.

Also, they make gfci breakers that are a bit more expensive but can save you money/be less of a headache. I needed one in a circuit and the electrician was going to have to open up the wall to get to the wires until he remembered that he could just put that type of breaker in...

Agree with the wiring, but there's also a weird thing where tester trips the gfci receptacle. Happened at my house after doing what I thought was a routine install. Everything else works fine, just the tester fucks it up. www.doityourself.com/forum/electrical-ac-dc/571464-outlet-tester-trips-gfci-breaker.html

We are going for inspection tomorrow morning at the new house and it will be the first time I’m even stepping inside it. We’ve already packed dozens of boxes of stuff at our current house and we close in less than 3 weeks. Bizarre bittersweet feeling. I love our current house so much but we have long outgrown it both materially and in expecting a kid in October. Excited and anxious about getting into the “forever home”, compounded with the strangeness of still never walking inside it yet. I really leaned into the “fuck it we ball” spirit on this one

Why weren't you able to see it before inspection? My wife and mom did, was only open for one open house and I couldn’t make it and then we jumped on it bc it was gonna go fast and I didn’t have a chance to get in. I’m not worried about it, I’m all in, it’s just strange haha

Snow is finally fucking (mostly) gone and it has revealed that voles have eaten literally one third of my yard. I don't mind the damage because it grows back quick, but if I just have to rake up ten bags of dead grass I'm not sure why I bother to mulch. Definitely envying clover yards right now, or whatever they are called. Clover is sold out at almost every seed supply store here because of the drought. I thought about going this way, too.

Owning a house is awful. Took Friday off work and spent all day pruning back trees and crawling under the house unblocking the sbend. At least my dog has a nice lawn to blast diarrhea out on.

the other day my wife texted me at work to alert me to this big snapper on our front porch. i ran home at lunch time, scooped it up with a snow shovel into a container and we put it back into the lake and watched it swim away

LOL, so google finally got our street in streetview after five years and one neighbour has his car parked right in front of our house and another set of neighbours is standing in our driveway.

Soooo, it’s been raining a ton here, and our historically woodsy/dry hillside has become this: Am I supposed to do something about this?…. Like is this going to be a nightmare to clear, or we don’t have to clear it until it dies? It’s so wild how luxurious it’s become. Update: we got the hillside cleared ($450), and then it rained and 2 weeks later we got a notice from the fire department that we needed to have our hillside cleared ($450). Woof.

WTF why are you even responsible for that? it’s her property? So you have to murder every wild plant that's on a hill and clearly not part of a lawn? I mean, obviously the bylaw exists if the fire department is acting like that, but come on - those trees are every bit the same fire risk.

That’s my bad I explained the timeline poorly! .
We got it cleared at the end of May while it was lush like the pic (knowing the fire inspector comes in June or July) but he just dense nuggs of fat buds whacked it, which just spread seeds or what have yous, so when it rained again, it grew back like crazy with a blanket of mustard dense nuggs of fat buds, and we immediately got a notice of non-compliance or whatever it’s called, and had to get it cleared again.
Sorry, i’m stoned… heh.
The sentence spice hahahah

I’m not sure of the exact verbiage but it’s something about no more than 3” of brush can collect within 100 yards of any structure (or something… i mostly made that up).

I’ve only been to the top one time in the 2.5 years we have owned this house, I am certainly not traversing the hillside like a billy goat with a power tool LOL
I don’t have that kind of agility.
