Is that frozen bag of crushed walnuts ? I just got bag &’ it’s like a crumble . Amazing. Interested in this too. I’ve had store bought walnut and lentil mince, which was awesome and way better than fake meat, but I’d be interested in making it from scratch. Nope, it was a bag of raw chopped walnuts and cauliflower. Put them together with some spices in a high powered blender, then bake. I can find the recipe if you guys want it.

Checking in because I FINALLY bought rice paper and made BiL bacon. It did not disappoint.

Let's talk sauces. This shit right here 👇 This recipe is a pretty good replication of bitchin sauce. I used to make this shit all the time, because it's way cheaper than buying it (unless you get it from costco, I guess). To make it chipotle, use the same recipe but add two or three canned chipotles in adobo sauce. Shit rocks. www.thefauxmartha.com/bitchin-sauce/

I subbed soy sauce too. It was a little too salty/tangy. Might adjust slightly in the future, but overall really good.
Now I have not had real bacon in 30+ years, so it's not like I would even pretend to know how accurate a flavor it is to the real thing.

I would smother life in maple syrup if it was appropriate.

Used to make some meatless meatballs with chopped walnuts. It was a recipe my mom had. Delicious but it was vegetarian (had egg). If I can find it I’ll post and just list egg substitute. I use apple sauce and baking powder, wondering what else I should be trying.

I use soy sauce every time but I do 2/3 and the rest water. I usually double it so it ends up being 8tbs ss and 4tbs water I think

I’ve made it with soy and with tamari and definitely found the tamari version less salty/more enjoyable. I’ll try the water dilution trick too as it’s still pretty salty. I also fucked up and used flavoured nutritional yeast which had added salt too.

I want to try ground flaxseed and water. Seems pretty neutral. I’ve only used apple sauce for cake, muffins etc. I think the flavor might not work for meatloaf meatballs burgers or whatever.

I was making a grocery order for pickup earlier and this popped up in my recommended foods. I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I like to mix in those options. Anybody had them? I had “mock shrimp” once at a vegetarian Chinese buffet that I wasn’t impressed with, but that was 10+ years ago. Yeah, I was really into this brand in ‘14 or so and I have no idea what happened but the last few boxes I got made me hurl shortly after eating them. It was a real bummer! Those Gardien ones someone posted are pretty legit.

Been making vegan popcorn that my wife is obsessed with. I just buy this microwavable organic stuff that is only slightly salted, no butter. But first I microwave some earth balance. Pour the butter into the bag when it's done, add a dash more salt, and shake vigorously. Shit is no joke better than movie theater popcorn. It rules.

Strong Roots brand kale and quinoa burgers are probably the best frozen burger I’ve had. I need to try more of their stuff!
