TCM is sooo good and brutal. Anyone who's ever lived or been in the middle of nowhere will find that movie dreadful. I also love the Exorcist, I never saw it until I was an adult and I thought it was insane.

Does anyone know the original source of that stock audio clip of a hooker saying "You wanna go out? Come here cutie, hey come here." I think I've heard it in at least 10+ different movies over the years, plus that Madball album. Was just watching Bad Santa and it's in there.
Is it like the Wilhelm Scream for scumbags?

Recently watched Nightmare In A Damaged Brain with my son. One of the more twisted horror films for 1980. Like a 70s grindhouse version of a slasher film. Great scenes of the killer roaming late '70s Times Square and going into peep shows. Definitely more psychological horror than most movies of this type. Just a nasty disturbing film and has become a cult classic over the years. Seems to be a fave of HC bands. Jerry's Kids used a still from the movie for their Kill Kill Kill album, Citizens Arrest uses a sample of it at the end of their first EP, and Vile Gash even named their latest LP after it. A must-see for horror fans. Just a must-see in general. I'd put it up there with Maniac in the sleaze dept.

They're showing Messiah of Evil on Prime now. Lovecraft influenced 70s surreal horror classic.

Honey Boy is pretty good. A personal work that suffers from being too personal.

I saw some shitty band open for Descendents in March and the singer wouldn't shut the fuck up about how pumped he was for Disney+. Not punk.

Yup this shit is fucked. All the 20th Century Fox stuff is just gonna rot right alongside everything else Disney owns until they decide otherwise. We can pretty much forget about any of those titles getting any type of release via Criterion or Arrow as well.

The villains in Doctor Sleep totally reminded me of the vampires in Near Dark.
Movie was cool, it worked for the most part.

I really want to see the mandalorian. I’m annoyed that their dumbass streaming platform is the only way to do it. Fuck em, torrent that shit I usually don't resort to torrenting unless it's for stuff that is old and hard to find, but I'll make exceptions for anything Disney affiliated.

Watched Mute the other night on Netflix. Sci-fi flick by the director of Moon with Skarsgard and Paul Rudd. It started off kinda all over the place, a confusing cyberpunk mess, but the third act was great and by the end I was a fan. Shit gets real dark. The entire world the director created is pretty much entirely lifted from Blade Runner, but that was fine by me. If you're going to model a future setting for a film, it may as well be from the best. The comparison doesn't end there though, as it plays out as a sci-fi film noire.

Watched a couple films at AFI Fest yesterday:
Antigone - Pretty good modernized take of a Greek tragedy story with a hint of social realism
The Irishman (with introduction from ol Marty himself). Plays like a typical Scorsese gangster film for the first 150 minutes, but I loved the whole last hour.
Blow The Man Down - Feminist driven Coen Bros worship, Margo Martindale is fucking great in this.
