Yoooooo. Can we talk about that last episode or fucking what? I loved it. I was giddy. Luke did look sorta shitty at times though. I also loved the characterization of Luke in TLJ but it feels like they did this just to appease the "you're not a true star wars fan unless you love Clone Wars" fan boy contingent so it also sort of bummed me out. But, context aside, it was a great ep and Im glad they didn't kill Gideon. Giancarlo Esposito will always get work because of how fucking evil he can seem. Great character actor. Also the last two episodes of The Mandalorian were fucking awesome

Mando season 2 was everything ive dreamt of in the Star Wars universe since I was a teenager. Season 1 was also great. But they really held nothing back for season 2.

The first several episodes were starting to feel too formulaic in my apinion, but episodes 5 and 6 were awesome. Gonna watch 7 and 8 tonight to finish the series.

Show is ridiculous, there was so many moments in this season that blew my mind. I had a feeling luke would be in this series just didn't think it'd be this soon. I really hope he meets Ahsoka in her show. I wonder what the plan is for Grogu?

Interested in seeing how they do that Book of Boba Fett spin off or is it just going to be season 3 and they'll return to Din Djarin's story at some point.

the last 2-3 episodes were singlehandedly better than the new ot What did you like about them? The story and writing being coherent and great. The way they did Boba Fetts return. The shot of the tie fighter being deployed was cool. Finally getting to see Luke the way we were supposed to see him in the new OT, as a powerful Jedi Knight. The action sequences were well choreographed. I can go on, but i was just not a fan of the new OT. Episode 7 was good and the rest fell off imo.

Agree with the sentiment that somebody expressed where they were worried after the first few episodes were a bit formulaic. It felt a little too much small potatoes. The season picked up in a big way though and nailed all of the things that I wanted to see. Fett finally got to be a badass and Ahsoka transferred over to live-action very well. I honestly never expected Luke to show up due to recasting Hamill being equivalent to sacrilege, so when a lone X-Wing showed up at the end of the last episode, I audibly let out a "What the fuck?" I think he was handled very tastefully. In a lot of these post-ROTJ stories so far, Luke is absent from events that you would think would benefit from his presence like the Battle of Jakku, so you're left thinking what is he doing that's so important that he isn't around? Catching a glimpse of that was satisfying, not to mention how cool it was seeing him tear those droids up.

Am I the only person out there that didn't hate Luke's character shift in the last jedi? Lazy writing is having zero growth after 20 years or whatever the gap is between the OT and ST. I like that we're gonna at least have a glimpse of that in-between.
If these new series have to retcon stuff in order for the ST to make sense, so be it. Because they're doing a great job at it.

I feel like there is this thing in the Star Wars fandom where you're willing to look over plot holes and poor dialog as long as there is some nostalgia inducing piece of fluff to make you forget about it. Where the Mandolorian and Rogue One were best, to me, was when it was entirely disconnected from the original trilogy. The universe is massive but there's not a single Star Wars product that doesn't have a Skywalker in it. I get that Star Wars traded heavily in nostalgia for a particular man-child contingent, but I feel like Star Wars is letting the need to please a vocal minority of fans hamper its storytelling.

So you think that it should have been a different Jedi that survived the purge to come grab Grogu? I don't know- Luke is trying to rebuild the Jedi order 10 years post ROTJ. I loved seeing him retrieve the child, make sense.

Only thing worse than her being a Skywalker was the actual outcome where she was a fucking Palpatine.

I hate Luke in ST. He goes from doing anything for his friends/ the galaxy, even when he knows he's outmatched (ESB) to literally doing NOTHING for his friends/ the galaxy for like 15 years? I get it he was scared, but he's overcome his fear before, he's a jedi for chrissake. But I think that movie would have been a lot easir for me to swallow without the useless Canto Bight stuff and by the second super Leia showed up, I checked out and just didn't give a fuck. It's the only SW movie I've only seen in the theater once. I rewatched it at home a couple times, there are some things I like, the SFX, for Instance and that throne room fight. I loved ROS, even with it flaws because I felt like I understood the character motivations a little more but man, they really didn't have to make Hux a fucking wimp after TFA

But Luke wasnt doing nothing for 15 years. It was probably only a couple. Idk the timeline between when Ben Solo turned to the dark side to The Force Awakens. He failed at restoring the jedi order and just said fuck it. Its a very human reaction to failure. I understand people's qualms with it though. What I DON'T like is people writing it off because they want Luke to be this Mary Sue from the EU (something I admittedly know nothing about) where Luke is married and his wife is also a jedi and they have little jedi kids and they all live happily on the farm. I'll take Disney Luke over that horse shit any day.

No I think Luke appearing was exactly correct, however, I felt like it was inevitable and that needing Luke to show up and retrieve the child was evidence of the plot being hamstrung by the need to appeal to our nostalgia. I am more interested now in seeing new directions and things that challenge my feelings and views about Star Wars. My favorite in the whole series is Empire, and people forget how much that film challenged what was set out in A New Hope. It was a major subversion of expectations, and it is why we care about the series at all. If there was no Empire, Star Wars would be like any Sci fi movie from the 80s, not the indelible piece of pop culture and media behemoth it has become, in my apinion.

I'll take Disney Luke over that horse shit any day. I agree, but I'll add to it thusly: Luke didn't say "fuck it" and exile himself to do nothing. He made a self-sacrificing choice. He believed that his presence, and the presence of the Jedi was jeopardizing the lives of the people he loved. He says "the legacy of the jedi is failure" and given the context of his most recent spectacular failure, with his own flesh and blood, he came to the extemely logical and difficult decision that the existence of the Jedi causes the dark side to rise up and "balance" things out. He sees a cycle of violence eons long, and saw what it did to his father. BUT what people forget, is that Luke was WRONG. Yoda makes that clear. "Wars not make one great." Luke took the wrong message from the failures of the Jedi, and took the wrong lesson from his own failure. The Last Jedi is at its heart a movie about the burdens of legacy, the burdens of the past being a hamper on the future, and the dichotomy between embracing and learning from your past mistakes (Luke) and destroying the past (Kylo/Ben). The character motivations and arcs for each character are brilliant. Poe going from hot shot pilot to true leader (learning from his mistakes), Finn going from self-motivated turncoat, to true rebel (learning) etc. etc. It's just really really good. The Rise of Skywalker has almost no redeeming qualities. It is a mess start to finish in my apinion. Even as big screen spectacle, I feel like it fails on almost every level. It's the only one I have not wanted to re-watch.

Which is a theme I love about the new trilogy and the Mandalorian. I like how they challenge people's belief systems and I like that Din is breaking away from the zealotry. I just hope Bo Katan des the same thing, because if not then shes a fucking hypocrite telling Din he doesn't have to wear his helmet and then in the next breath being like "noooo I didnt EARN the dark saberrrrr"
