TLJ was far and away the best of the new trilogy, RotS is maybe one of the worst of the entire series. I can see how people were disappointed with Luke in the last Jedi, but it fit with Rian’s vision. One that moved past the skywalkers and was about a universe where anyone has the potential to be force sensitive, not just people from famous families. Clearly JJ hated that and basically undid everything TLJ setup, which is why the trilogy feels so goddamned disjointed and inconsistent.

Those of you who liked TLJ, were there things about it you didn’t like, or thought could have been better?

Those of you who liked TLJ, were there things about it you didn’t like, or thought could have been better? OH absolutely. I think there are things all of the movies (except Empire, which is about as perfect as Star Wars gets) could have done better. I felt like the Canto Bight stuff, while cool in a world building sense, was a bit hokey, especially the Justin Thereaux cameo. I thought they over-explained a little bit, especially the mystical force related things, but I felt like the exposition was more for the younger audiences. I tend to brush off things in Star Wars movies that are a little bit corny or a little ham-handed as playing to a younger audience and I don't let it bother me. The Rise of Skywalker, on the other hand, I don't feel did much of anything right. It's far and away the worst of the series, including the prequels. My kids didn't even want to watch it again, but I felt like I had to just to see if it was as bad and unenjoyable as I thought it had been in the theater, and it was maybe worse on a second viewing. I can't believe that movie made it to theaters in that condition.

In some of the light Saber on light Saber battles in the prequels you can sort of feel that they are sticks sort of bouncing off each other in real life. They feel really destructive and dangerous in the throne room battle. If your critique is more on the fight choreography itself then I think you're probably looking at it too closely. Almost any fight choreography breaks down if you analyze it blow by blow.

It really feels like they're desperately fighting for their lives. The tension is palpable.

The lightsaber fights can have the feeling of sparring and be a little too practiced and choreographed, especially in the prequels. The best ones in my apinion were the one from Return of the Jedi when Luke is going off on Vader, and Throne Room. I also really liked the way Ahsoka's sabers seemed in The Mandolorian.

At this point, my only major gripe with TLJ is the sense of humor they used. It felt really Marvel esque in a way that was incredibly distracting. Really, a your-mom joke in the first 10 minutes of the movie? Eesh. BUT, that being said, I can now recognize that it is a beautifully made film and has a lot to say and has a sense of purpose, which is more than I can say about almost all of the other Disney era movies.

I don’t like that there is a sudden uptick in the amount of melee weapons in the universe that can counter a lightsaber.

The kamikaze scene and Luke's standoff on redhoth are two of the best looking things in the entire series IMO.

The OT is filled with jokes and has a general sense of humor. They are basically kids movies. Sure they have moments of seriousness, but so do the new ones. And hating the throne room battle is one of the worst takes I’ve heard about the new trilogy.

People only started hating the throne room battle after YouTube videos of it slowed down frame by frame to pick out all the flaws. Watching it real time is barely even noticeable. Of course if you go frame by frame with some neckbeard commentating on it with terrible boomer jokes, people are going to have a negative view of it.

And hating the throne room battle is one of the worst takes I’ve heard about the new trilogy. The issue feelthedorkness brought up isn’t the presence of humor in TLJ—it’s the type of humor. I’ve never seen a Marvel movie, but I’ve heard the jokes and gags described as such. Right from the start, the humor felt out of place, particularly when it was used to make the bad guys appear less threatening. If we’re to believe the First Order really has the means and will to destroy the Republic and enslave the universe, then leave out the your-mom jokes, and the fucking clothes iron gag. We believed Darth Vader and the Emperor were the baddest asses in the galaxy because their characters were taken seriously by the writers and directors, and by the other characters in the story. Also, the humor has that dumb self-awareness that is prevalent in everything. I acknowledge that that appeals to the average moviegoer, but it really took me out of what is supposed to be an immersive space fantasy; I felt like I was watching a movie, rather than events that took place a long time ago in a galaxy far away. Anyway, you’ve all read these same incel/neckbeard rants a hundred times, so I’ll call it good here. It doesn’t bother me that some people liked the movie, and I genuinely enjoy the vigor and giddiness with which kbs describes it.

I’m watching TROS for a second time (I hate myself).
It’s still breathtakingly terrible.

There have been rumblings of it for about a year now, but it leaked today that a KotOR remake/reimagining is being worked on. It's from a smaller studio that is picking up a lot of former BioWare employees.

The High Republic stuff so far is decent but I'm really looking to dive deeper into the KOTOR era

Disney dropped Gina Carano. Her talent agency dropped her as a client too. What are the odds she goes the porn route in a few years?

Gina won’t do porn. She will do a round on conservative platforms talkin bout the intolerant left. We might even see her do a few Christian movies with like fuckin Kirk Cameron and that dude from Home Improvement.

Pretty much that. She'll also be the biggest spokesperson for Parler. I'm surprised that it took this long for them to drop her since she's been posting bullshit since the election but I guess now that the season's over they decided to get her.

I don't understand the urge to post political apinions instead of just shutting the fuck up and focusing on her career. Well... unremarkable career in her case.

I realized I don’t post enough in here. I’ve been really pissed with the direction of the trilogies, but Rogue One, Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mando have kept me interested.
Now that they’ve confirmed that KOTR is canon I’m excited to see where they take the series. I wanna see some creepy Malachor shit that fleshes out the sith as more than just bad for the sake of being bad.

Sucks she ruined herself cause I liked the character. I wonder if they explain her absence or if she’s just never mentioned or acknowledged again. I’m guessing the latter.
