Except “playing it safe” should have meant telling a coherent story that nobody could really point to and say, “that was fucking garbage.” Instead, they did the opposite of playing it safe, and produced an objectively terrible product that pleased no one from any faction of fandom. Playing it safe would have been to hire a team of competent writers and write the whole gaddamned trilogy ahead of time. I will never stop being amazed at the absurd risks that were taken by Disney in trying to piece together a story with different writers and directors making it up as they wen't along. Since then, they’ve given us content of continuously declining quality, and I don’t think that will change as long as people keep their Disney+ subscriptions. Fuck Andor. Fuck Disney. Fuck movies. Let it alllllll out I’ll die being angry about this

I’ll never understand the massive fuck up that the new trilogy was. Also Lucasfilm’s constant interference with directors and writers is insane. Colin Trevorrow, Gareth Edwards, Lord and Miller all had their original visions fucked with.

You know what's crazy? I was never in any suspense during Obi Wan. Somehow, Rogue One took a story that gets the briefest mention in ANH, and filled it with perhaps the most intense, suspenseful moments possible. It gave stakes to something we already knew the outcome of, which normally removes all stakes. The trouble Obi Wan has is that Darth Vader and Obi Wan battle, Leia is kidnapped, Luke is in jeopardy, but we fucking know that absolutely nothing happens to them. Absolutely ZERO stakes. SO THEY CAN'T AND SHOULDN'T BE THE PLOT. A story about Obi Wan that never intersected with Vader directly is what I wanted. His failure, his overcoming grief, his subtle mentorship of Luke, his interactions in Tattoine, perhaps some sort of clandestine mission that gives us a foundation for his and Leia's relationship would be fine, that puts him in Vader's path without the two of them ever meeting would have been perfect. I can't believe we got TWO FUCKING meaningless lightsaber battles that only serve to cheapen the original trilogy.

What a cheap, pointless and poorly written show. This episode was nuts with how often it just chose to ignore existing traits or rules and make up its own shit. Lucasfilm is entirely content with outsourcing their properties and characters to hacks who do not understand them for some reason. Who fucking knows why? It's not like the people they choose to go with are cheap. I would honestly rather watch any of the prequels, Attack of the Clones included, than suffer through this show again.

I feel bad that Ewan had to be in the shitty ass prequels and then this. They did my boy dirty.

Book of Boba and Obi-Wan couldn’t even capture the interest of my kids, who watch every garbage-ass superhero movie, and are obsessed with Star Wars. Damn.

and whoever mentioned the forced humour....right on. that disney BS is running through all the marvel movies now too.

I came close to buying that Star Wars branded LG OLED, but didn't want to be reminded of what the franchise has become. Currently cleansing the pallet with some season 4 X-Files on Bluray. I think I'm gonna watch "Clyde Bruckman's Final Response" when I get home from work.

I get it, but dawg forced humor has been a hallmark of Star Wars since the beginning. George Lucas has never written a funny joke in his life. The only genuine laugh line in the whole shit is the one Ford improvised in ANH. The prequels are especially RIFE with shitty humor. It's kid jokes for kids.

This show was obviously straight fan service, I enjoyed it but I wish they would stop with these "filling in the blanks" series and go beyond TROS

The most interesting part is when Vader lights the ground on fire and tries to rub obi wans face in it. Also Hayden Christensen is no David Prowse and he has to be filmed from the waist when next to people because he's standing on a box.

Just finished reading Shadows of the Sith. It was very okay. Does its best to add some context to certain plot points from the sequel trilogy, but I don't know, man. I'm just feeling so over Star Wars lately. I'm desperate for some shit with new characters, but I also don't trust Disney to really do anything well at this point. I'll hold out hope for Taika's movie as his track record is damn near perfect. I'll believe that's coming out when we actually get a trailer at this point though.

It’s fine. It needed more flips and force-pulling ships out of the air and cute furry penguin things and ill-timed your momma jokes.

Not getting my hopes up anymore, but some early reviews of Andor have said that it's the most different thing that Star Wars has ever done and that most fans are probably going to hate it...That probably has me more excited than anything. Why is it that a show that nobody asked for seems to be given more care and attention than shows devoted to major characters? It's so bizarre. There's been a verified leaker dropping a shit ton of info on Tales of the Jedi and the Acolyte. The most recent leak seems to indicate that we will be introduced to Plagueis in the Acolyte as the Muun homeworld will be featured at some point.
