Mandalorian movie announced, seems like it will be out next year and replace season four. I'm fine with that after season three just seemed to spin its wheels half of the time. www.starwars.com/news/the-mandalorian-and-groguThat title though...It stinks!

I’m somewhat stoked for Acolyte (airing sometime this year) even though I’m fully prepared for it to be more ham-fisted lazy nonsense. When I step back and really take stock of Disney Star Wars it’s just so depressing that only 2 projects have been excellent and like 2 or 3 others just pretty good.
Why they haven’t officially greenlit an epic lotr style Old Republic trilogy is still just so beyond me. It’s baffling and infuriating

I'm excited to see something live action in the High Republic era. The Acolyte's showrunner seems like a die-hard and approached Lucasfilm with the idea for the show, so I'm hoping that means something.
And Old Republic seems like such an obvious win that you have to wonder what the hell is going on over there. Like, is it all Kennedy being out of touch?

Ehhh Will watch but I’m tired of getting my hopes up to be let down. Mando is the only thing I’d rewatch. Bobba fett was terrible and Ahsoka and Obiwan were a disappointment.

Yeah, expectations will be much more tempered for this one. Cool that we're getting it so soon though. Rumor mill couldn't pin down whether this or skellytan Crew was coming out first.

Andor doesn’t feel anything like Star Wars and should have been its own stand-alone dystopian science fiction series.

Andor doesn’t feel anything like Star Wars and should have been its own stand-alone dystopian science fiction series. This is how I felt about it. Any series that doesn’t involve Jedi, the sith, the force or anything to do with lightsabers doesn’t spark my interest. That’s what I loved the most as a kid. It took me a long time to get through Andor just because it didn’t feel like Star Wars to me. Not saying it was bad because it wasn’t. Was just not Star Wars for me.

Andor is using literally the main antagonist throughout the universe in all the movies as the villains... The Empire's scale and scope of control is shown to a great extent and to one none of the movies begin to show. It is building out the world and filling in spots that only books and cartoons have done while being actually intelligent and intended for adults unlike everything else created for the entire Star Wars galaxy aka 40 year old dudes pissed about kid shows.
This Acolyte thing will probably live and die by the dialogue which isn't looking good. The action seems cool using wuxia style but if the story is dry or predictable as hell it can only carry it so far.

Mouse Ears giving Patty Jenkins a green light for Rogue Squadron when she basically got fired from Wonder Woman is a ringing endorsement of Disney's judgement calls.

All I know is the the emperor didn’t die when Vader threw him down that giant shaft, maul didn’t die after being cut in half and falling down a shaft, the sister got stabbed through the stomach and didn’t die and not one person from that entire lame ass speeder gang in Bobba fett died.

If Acolyte can deliver on some decent Sith/Legends lore delivery, I'll consider it a win. The showrunner/writer was a big book fan and has a "show bible" written already for additional seasons. Would be cool to see Tenebrous/Plagueis eventually. The show seems to be fairly low budget based on what I've read, so it will live and die by the script.

it will live and die by the script. Here lies the problem. I enjoyed Ahsoka enough largely due to my being a big Rebels fan. Take that away and I’d probably dislike it nearly as much as I’ve disliked everything else. The writing is just lazy and safe. If they capitalize on this being in a completely different era with all new characters and really do something with gravitas a la Andor then it has a chance. I just really doubt that’s gonna happen

Im nearly finished the Thrawn trilogy and i need more 90s eu book recomendations! The Jedi Academy trilogy kind of stinks, but it's kind of required reading for that era because it shows the establishment of what becomes the New Jedi Order. Read I, Jedi once you're done with those. Great one-off that runs alongside those books and focuses on a side character.
