First two episodes come out tomorrow at 9 PM Eastern. Just read the showrunner/writer say in an interview that she has been let down by some recent Star Wars media, which is kind of crazy to admit as someone in her position and almost wants to make me hopeful. I'm not falling for that trap again though.

ok. This isn’t bad so far. Some rough special effects here and there but all in all I dig the story and like most of the characters. I know very little about the High Republic era but I def dig the prequel trilogy feel this thing has.

New show sucks. Hackneyed writing, TERRIBLE makeup and every scene looks like a set and not an actual "lived in" world. The Green lady delivers her lines Like she reading them from a text book and the make up is wearing her, instead of the other way around. It's too clean, even when they go to dingy places. Some of the most OBVIOUS attempts at optical illusion effects using capes I've EVER seen in a modern show, like REALLY BAD. With every new Star Wars the lightsabers get smoother and smoother, oh no Blanakin don't kill me with your giant yellow Jolly Rancher! Show has no Grit, at all. Makes Obi-wan and Boba Fett look like Empire in comparison. Fucking Jason from the Good Place may be the best and worst casting on the show BECAUSE HE'S FUCKING JASON FROM THE GOOD PLACE. Fucking evil twin story line- PUH- LEASE.
We're in the core worlds, but the only recognizable race from the series that COME after are the fucking Trade feds?
Don't even get me started on how not evil the evil guy's evil voice was.
Let me get this straight. 100 years ago all the jedi knew kung fu, but just swing lightsabers like baseball bats when they fight battle droids during the clone wars?

First two episodes were honestly just boring. Agreed on the evil dude's voiceover being silly. Also some scenes and both episodes' endings are cut so abruptly. That coupled with the wooden acting and lame dialogue just makes the whole thing feel awkward to me |

I'm in the middle on this. Writing and acting is all over the place, but the story is grabbing me and I'm interested to see where it goes. Hate the continued use of a dark sider needlessly igniting their red lightsaber so you know that they're the bad guy.

I watched the whole show because I do nothing but sit on my couch from seven o'clock onwards and I'm eating pretty well already with the fantasy stuff because of House of the Dragon, so I could suffer through some mediocrity.
The show never really got any better as a whole. The fifth episode was alright, the sixth was good and then seven and eight were just okay. Stuff happens with shoehorned catalysts that don't make sense and then other things happen with no actual explanation. It's almost like nobody was giving this show serious script revisions. One actor in particular actually shone through pretty well and you could feel him carrying the show on his shoulders whenever he was given some extended time on screen.
Speaking of House of the Dragon, that show cost about $200 million to make. I thought that this show had a lower budget, but it apparently ran about $180 million. You watch the two in the same week and it just doesn't make sense because one has epic scale, detailed costumes and movie-quality CGI going on and then the other just sort of falls flat on all of those fronts.
The big spoiler for the season is common knowledge now, I imagine. News sites were literally putting spoilers in the title of articles. When handled this poorly though, who really cares?
