I just checked his IMDB and dude has never directed anything original. the closest he's come is Super 8 where the plot is essentially "what if ET fought back"
i'm honestly amazed we haven't had a leak about some new kind of small furry creature that helps our heroes for the next SW movie.

JJ clearly knows how to make compelling trailers but I feel like he's a mediocre filmmaker. I remember being stoked out of my mind about Super 8 and Cloverfield, but I honestly couldn't tell you anything about Super 8 and Cloverfield was really disappointing. I know he just produced the latter but still.

The hype for this one is so much different than the last 2 movies. I feel like any excitement is so subdued and people are checked out : / I was kinda disappointed in the Last Jedi even though it's not a bad movie. Idk the magic is gone but I just love the universe at this point and am willing to give each movie a chance.

I expect the experience of episode 9 to be pretty close to 7 and 8 for me in that I will go, I'll have a good time in the theater because it's star wars and at least its not the prequels, then afterwards I'll read a bunch of people pointing out all the flaws I didn't really pay attention to and it'll be ruined for me.
Mandalorian looks cool but the fact that I'll have to pay for some disney streaming service to watch it is some BULLSHIT
