I saw Terrifier 2 last night and am shocked to say that I actually enjoyed it. Its way too long of course, but the bedroom scene in the middle was so gloriously over the top that I had a fun time. Its certainly not a GOOD movie, but I'll take it over boring Blumhouse schlock.

The Sadness is probably my all time favorite horror movie. I'm gonna have fun traumatizing people with that movie in the future. Hey it's movie night there's popcorn and some beer. Then you lock the door behind you.

For all the people who were losing their minds about the gore in Terrifier 2, The Sadness was so much more fucked.

Even though the satire in The Sadness is pretty threadbare imo, I certainly won't forget about it, which is the only reason I liked it more than other people I know who saw it.

For all the people who were losing their minds about the gore in Terrifier 2, The Sadness was so much more fucked. Not even necessarily just in the gore but the entire nihilistic view of the duality of man, science, cowardice, sex, society and the quick cold ravenous brutality of it's demise.

I can't make a top 10 without including some stinkers, but the fact that none of y'all put Scream or Texas Chainsaw Massacre is wild to me, both were so much fun.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre you mean the remake or the original its hard to tell with the way they just call it the same thing. Anyways the remake is straight fucking ass. Like whoever wrote that should chop off their hands and hang their head in utter shame cause that was laughably bad writing.

I'm talking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre '22 which is a legacy sequel to the OG. Same with Scream which is Scream 5 basically.

I liked TCM ‘22 a lot. I’ve really slacked on my horror movie watching this year. Dark Glasses would make my list though

Scream almost made it. They both woulda been in the 11-14 range. Also I didn't count things on my list like Nope, Bones and All, Bodies Bodies Bodies, The Menu. Lux Aeterna.

Scream was great. We had a ton of fun at the theater. Same with Barbarian- that was a fantastic movie theater experience

Scream was fun, almost made the list. However, I didn't care for the new TCM.

I didn't see Scream. I will but I don't really see the point in movies like that.

Hot take: I think TCM '22 is better than all three of DGG's Halloween films. I might change my mind in a bit on Ends because of the huge swings it takes, but right now, nah.

I haven't watched enough new horror to make a top 10, but I did finally see Gremlins 2.
The OG Gremlins has always been a favorite, and I thought I saw G2 as a kid, but apparently not. Holy shit, that is a wild ride -- damn near a perfect movie. I'm going to make 1 and 2 mandatory Christmas viewing from now on.
Also, I recently learned that all of the close up shots for Gizmo's Rambo scenes was actually a grown-ass man in a Mogwai suit. That fucked me up during the watch.

TCM 22 had a few fun scenes but as a whole I didn’t think there was too much there. That being said it’s definitely above Halloween ends.

Gremlins 2 was one of the first things I ever recorded off TV with my parent's VCR when I was a kid. From ages like 11-13 I must have watched it like once a week, sans the first 15 minutes or so because I was late when I started recording. As an adult I actually get the references, and knowing the backstory of it basically being Joe Dante's "fuck you" to Warner Bros for pressuring him to make a sequel he had no interest in making has me appreciating it even more. Great movie. Edit: Also Haviland Morris in that movie probably kick-started my puberty. Yowza.

Also the theatrical version has the Hulk Hogan scene while this is what you would get if you bought the VHS.

This podcast is what primed me for it. All the background info really helps, but I do wish I had let everything surprise with the first watch.
(I'm dumb and I don't know how to embed a spotify podcast episode, but it's the Gremlins episode form Wizard and the Bruiser. They're affiliated with Last Podcast on the Left -- nerdy but obscene.)
