Saw Malum the other night. If you liked Last Shift, it does a pretty good job of honoring that with a bigger budget. The beginning comes out swinging and the fun sustains throughout. Worth seeing in the theater, too. And you don't have to see Last Shift to appreciate it, either. This take on it reminded me of The Void, but with a demonic bent instead of cosmic.
Also, Talk To Me is another one ya'll will really want to put on your radar. A24 picked it up and is giving it a summer release which speaks to their expectations. Will probably be considered the horror movie of the year, but imho the best horror movie A24 has been involved with and is probably my favorite horror film of the 21st century. It's a unique take on a familiar story, but gives it serious teeth and constantly stays one step ahead. Extremely violent and gory, with thrilling shocks, scares and suspense. Very refreshing to see something this potent that isn't going the elevated horror route and isn't franchise fodder. This one does not fuck around. July, 28th, Board.

I haven't seen Last Shift in years, so I'm fuzzy on the end, but the end of Malum does have a bit of a climax; they escalate things and go all out for it. It helps that Malum has more of a fleshed out story (and backstory) so it culminates. My only real criticism is that nothing really surprised me that much but I think that's because I had seen Last Shift and knew a lot of what to expect. Despite that, I enjoyed what it offered and think horror fans will dig it. |

It was really dumb for what was a otherwise clever premise Manson family wannabe's come back from the dead due to voodoo/demonic curse to take revenge on the precinct. |

I've read though that they're going to split up the season so that people will be forced to subscribe longer. |

I've probably said it before and I know it doesn't go along with the Drive-in theme of the show, but I would prefer if they only showed one movie per week for Joe Bob. Both this week and last's episode were 5h30. I always fall asleep during the second movie.
