I can like understand if The Babadook didn’t necessarily land with some of y’all but it’s objectively a great flick across the board and there’s no denying that. Come on I thought it was good, and really well done, but I mostly just wasn’t into the monster’s design. And when it got animated for a bit it really pulled me out of it. I should probably give it a rewatch though. I think my biggest problem is the same that I have with It Follows, where they both got hyped up beyond belief while Starry Eyes (the better film imo) got overlooked nonstop

the babadook is the new stepdad right I don't think there was a step dad. It's the mother and the fact that she's been repressing her husbands death.

It was a good movie but that kid was so fucking annoying that I wouldn’t want to watch it again.

Finally got around to watching The Sadness and holy fucking shit. I’m not even sure I’ve got adequate words for this movie. Very much reminds me of the Crossed comic series but so much gnarlier than I thought it would be put into a movie adaptation. Highly recommend for anyone who can handle the film equivalent of Cannibal Corpse songs.

Joe Bob is showing the Mutilator and maybe I'm crazy but I feel like he's shown it before.
I know it was talked about in this thread before though so I might be confusing the two.

Anyone seen the Polish horror movie on netflix called Hellhole? I had someone recommend it to me, but I haven't heard anyone talking about it. I was debating between watching either that or the Innocents (1961) tonight. I know, VERY different types of movies lol.
Also, someone mentioned Starry Eyes. All I know about that movie is the people who made it made the terrible Pet Semetary remake. Is Starry Eyes worth watching?

Starry Eyes being so good made Pet Sematary that much more disappointing

Slowly making my way through Joe Bob's Last Drive In. Watched the Maniac episode and love Savini so much.

There's a Walking Dead Joe Bob episode tonight(9pm EST) on Shudder. I don't care about W.D. but I care about J.B.

Holy fucking shit the 2023 Children Of The Corn remake was godfuckingawful. I got a free Redbox rental and that was the only thing I hasn’t seen yet and dear god was it cringe.
He Who Walks Behind The Rows looked fucking stupid like anorexic Swamp Thing and it was sort of implied that he was the result of GMO corn, the little girl who was the replacement for Isaac was really annoying and everyone in the movie was a fucking dumbass and could have very easily avoided anything bad happening to them because little ass kids with baseball bats hit like little kids.

That's disappointing because Kurt Wimmer is capable of wild shit and now he's doing shit like this.

Caught God is a Bullet. Haven't read the book, but the trailer looked like Taken/Deathwish with the tone/look of Green Room featuring a Satanic cult. I enjoyed it, but a lot of the slack it's getting is warranted. The movie is 2 and 1/2 hours long and didn't need to be. Guessing it was trying to be faithful to the book, but it was a slog at times. Trailer made it look like there was an urgency to it; there was with regards to the storyline, but it's not fast paced, and thus it lacked the suspense I was hoping for. It was also a film with multiple endings which felt anticlimactic. All that said, it's insanely violent, gory and swung for the fences when it wen't for it. Stacked cast and cool soundtrack (Bowie and the Dead Boys). A couple show stopping moments that I really appreciated. Despite being so long and bloated, every scene was actually pretty interesting. I think that's part of why I liked it beyond the crazy eye candy and relentless ferocity.

Filled with gobs of dumb fuckin' idiot characters that couldn't possibly come off as more fake movie bullshit if they tried BUT the good news is MAIKA MONROE is here to save, and make, the movie, as she always does. She is so absolutely legit badass in this. I was never really bored and was always engaged even through a couple facepalms lol. I found this to be very Craig Zahler-like in all ways good and bad.

Animation night for Last Drive-In which honestly kinda sucks. And if I can whine some more, I don't really like doing themed movies.

Yeah, Maika Monroe was solid per usual. And the Craig Zahler comparison is spot fucking on. Good call there. Probably an inspiration. Will add that the fireworks were a pretty cool detail. If the right person edited this, I think it could be the movie it deserved to be.

But if you haven't seen Who Can Kill a Child? it's worth tracking down as far as killer kid movies go. Very eerie movie and top notch ending. Probably my favorite of that subgenre.

Evil Dead Rise was whatever. Prologue scene was tight but that first act was boring as shit. Epilogue was extra lazy.

Double post alert
If Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe both slap btw) can manage to give us a somewhat serious production with the right claustrophobic feel of the original and also portray the young cast as something other than completely insufferable, then Alien Romulus may just in fact be a fun and scary time at the theater. I’ve actively disliked everything that has come out since Alien 3 so I don’t know why I’m even remotely optimistic, but alas here I am.
edit: Also good on them for giving this a theatrical release after they did Prey so dirty last year

Starting to slowly integrate horrors into our days. Last year we watched nothing but horrors for all of September and October. By November I was actually looking forward to some fucking relief hahaha. Watched jeepers creepers 1 and 2, cabin fever, and stir of echoes. Jeepers creepers 2 is so fucking cool.
