Speaking of, is that LaKeith Stanfield show on Apple at all related to the film?

Exorcist II sucked so much ass but Exorcist III was really really good. Exorcist the Beginning was one of the worst movies I've seen.

Exorcist III, straight up one of the best horror sequels ever. I may just kick off October with this one.
& I’ll be the first one up in the thread to say the new one sucks if it does, but I’m still (somewhat) stoked to see it.

Watched Beaten to Death last night. Pretty gnarly visually and main actor does a phenomenal job, but as a whole it’s a bit of a let down. I feel like there was a good movie somewhere in there but the writer/director is too much of a pretentious edgelord to find it.

Exorcist III is a great movie. I love George C scoot and how mad he is all the time throughout. Also brad dourif is one of the greatest character actors in the game

Exorcist III is a fabulous movie. I love George c scoot and how insanely mad he is all the time throughout. I wish his performance in The Changeling wasn't so stiff, cuz I know he can get crazy when he wants to. Also brad dourif is one of the greatest character actors in the game, bar none. A wonderful police procedural drama around the legion. worth a rewatch anytime you think about it. "It is NOT in the file"

Yeah BURNT OFFERINGS is so good. Might be my favorite example of 70s "slow burn" horror. Oliver Reed is insane. I mean always but for real in this movie. The swimming pool scene...
I kinda like all the Exorcist movies in some type of way haha. Obviously the first, and III, but I'll take John Boorman's lurid craziness over most things too. And Paul Schrader's is just a normal Schrader movie about a dude going mad but with literal demons instead of figurative ones so, yes please.

This scene scared the shit out of me as a kid. Quite possibly the best jump scare in cinema.

Finally watched Night Of The Hunter. I thought it was visually STUNNING. Very strong performance by the main preacher dude. He was actually scary af. His deep voice and his overall presence was so intense. Another one I'd gladly watch again.

Don’t have a movie list yet, but have started working through some books already. Kinda easing into a bit this month (or I thought I was). Started with Blood Meridian and just finished The Ruins, which was much better as a book IMO. Both of those are just super bleak and depressing. Just started on Nettle & Bone. Have plans for: The Troop Don’t Fear the Reaper How to Sell a Haunted House The Descent The Insatiable Hunger of Trees If people have suggestions for others I’d be happy to hear them. I haven’t read any Stephen King, is there a good place to start? I’ve heard good things about Pet Semetary. I’ve seen most of the movies of his books with film adaptations, but I know there’s a lot beyond that as well. Totally missed this post. I’m not a massive fan, but I do like King. I’d suggest books that have a good movie accompaniment. Short stories are a good starting place and you could easily fly through Children of the Corn. Also, you could go chronologically and start with Carrie, then Salems Lot. Also a huge fan of The Shining, Misery, and It. Christine seemed fun. Never read or watched Cujo. Tons of people love Pet Semetary. Honestly, you can’t go wrong. The book/movie, It, deserves a whole different category. There’s a lot to choose from.

And that drunk old dude was a wild choice too.

Sorry for the triple post, but the random choice in my movie list hit Neon Demon and I’m having second thoughts. Is it worth it, or should I roll again?

Yesterday I watched the 2013 movie The Boarderlands (released in the US as Final Prayer). Really good little UK found footage folk horror film. I typically struggle with FF movies, but this one worked for me and the last 15 minutes of the movie are particularly good I also saw Saw X this weekend. It was absurd, I had a good time. I lost it during the intestines rope part.

My friend said Saw X was one of the worst films she'd ever seen, but then I saw it's been getting relatively good critical notices (for a Saw film), so I dunno.
House III aka The Horror Show was a fun little watch. Lance Henriksen vs Brion James was always going to be a good match up though.

There are way worse Saw movies. As far as like... an actual movie, yeah its not good. But its also the tenth Saw movie, so it is what it is.

Kicked off October with:
Army of Darkness- the Raimi/Campbell thing isn't really my bag and I feel crazy for not liking it based on everyone else seemingly loving it
Possession- my god. What a barnburner. We need to get Sam Neill back in horror movies

Just caught Venus which is a newer Spanish flick by Jaume Balagueró. Dude's known for Rec, Sleep Tight and To Let all which I really dug. Needless to say he's got a thing for centering his movies around a building. This one was pretty batshit. Almost like Leon the Professional meets Lords of Salem or Suspiria or something with a cosmic horror bent. Can't say it's a masterpiece or that everything was a homerun, but it's fun enough to go along for the ride.

I watched the fifth one last week, and they are such miserable, joyless films.

I hadn’t read a book in a day in years before I picked up a copy of Misery. I hadn’t seen the movie and only knew about the hobbling scene, but I was hooked the entire time. Salems Lot is a great, straight forward, a Dracula story. I’d read anything you find in the horror section of a bookstore or library before reading How to Sell a Haunted House. God I hated that book.
