Just caught When Evil Lurks. Solid horror with a grim mood, potent violence, and a couple jaw dropping moments. Unique take on possession as well. Done by Demián Rugna who did Terrified, which was also pretty great. It's in select theaters, but if it's not playing near you, it's hits Shudder October 27th.

Just got out of When Evil Lurks, I thought it was pretty good. Certainly has a nasty streak to it.

Wife and I watched Blair witch 2016. Underrated. Movie got ripped apart critically but I think it holds up. Some real creepy shit at the end. Also this week just watched V/H/S for the first time. Some of the stories were pretty good, I liked the TI west one. Going to watch part II later. I Dl-ed near dark and fright night. Never seen either one.

Blair Witch 2016 is not bad and is definitely worth a watch.

Oh no. It is so fucking bad. lmao. I don’t even think it skated by in a funny, ironic sense. It’s just… real bad.

Joe Bob's Jamboree live screening of Night of the Demons is so much fun. Never seen the film before but it's a Halloween 80's schlock treat. Definitely going into the rotation.
Shudder is worth it through AMC+ directly rather than AMC+ through Prime. Way better UI and full search library. Has Sundance, IFC as well just as a heads up.

I just got Night of the Demons on 4k last week. It looks/sounds great. One of my favorite cheesy 80s horror movies. If Linnea Quigley is in it you know you're seeing some boobs

You gotta see the Last Drive In episode on it. Has both babes as guests and lots of neat history behind it.

Think I might follow it up with the 1996 remake

Prime's version of Ringu runs the subtitles before the dialogue, and the gap between both got worse and worse as the film wen't on. Quality assurance on that platform is horrendous.

Talk to Me was okay, it was basically a millennial rip off of Flatliners.

Watched The Mill on Hulu last night, not really horror necessarily but definitely worth watching if you liked Cube or whatever.

My October first-time viewings have been spotty in terms of quality but the unequivocal bangers ive seen so far have been Day of the Dead and Possession. Beyond Romero's initial trilogy what is an absolute must-see of his?

Beyond Romero's initial trilogy what is an absolute must-see of his? Creepshow. He wrote on Creepshow 2, but didn't direct, but for the segment "The Raft" based on the King short, it's worth checking out. There's also Martin, The Crazies and Amusement Park. I didn't hate Land of the Dead like a lot of people did, but it doesn't touch the trilogy. Romero was also behind the series Tales from the Darkside. He co-wrote the pilot "Trick or Treat" which was a stand out of the series and is a perfect Halloween episode.

Didn't remember that he was behind that.

Gonna see Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the big screen tonight for the first time. I'd honestly clock it at as the 2nd best horror movie of all time, so I'm stoked to finally see it in a packed room.

saw the new Exorcist, it wasn't terrible. First half was aight. Second half had some moments. Anything they tried to do with Ellen Burstyn and tying it back to the original made it worse, for sure.

taking the month to catch up on horror movies i've never seen, shooting for one a day and doubling up as needed to keep pace
yesterday was slumber party massacre i and ii and those were both tremendous, ii moreso obviously because the driller killer as a rockabilly dweeb was pretty fuckin' sick. i loved the first because it was a fun low-budget romp where clearly the female director had to make creative decisions around roger corman's thirst for boob.
great kills in ii, love that they added the detail of gore clinging to the drill bit when he murked people, love crystal bernard since wings, the rapport of the gals in the band was a lot of fun
got the remake on deck today and then gonna follow it with prom night 2 per a good friend's suggestion after he heard i was blowing through the slumber party movies

Good little romp. The remake's good fun too. Might have to give the second a whirl too, I've heard it's a lot campier.
