Infinity Pool and Prom Night 2 last night. How was infinity pool ? The first 45 minutes or so make it seem like it’s about to be a great movie and then it fumbles through the rest. Still worth a watch, but the quality of the dialogue starts to tank, a lot of the ideas aren’t fully developed, and there’s some time-consuming sequences. The movie can’t seem to decide whether it is going to be plot-driven or more fever dream atmospheric shit.

Doing a lil Halloween marathon tonight. Don’t remember Halloween 3 at all. This is sort of dumb. Why is this part of the series. This is the direction it was supposed to go in after H2. There were no plans to bring Michael back after the second one and they intended it to be an anthology with a different story involving different characters every year. I love H3 and it's gotten reappraised a bunch over the years as unfairly maligned. I think we'll eventually get a Halloween concept that follows in the vein of 3.

I rewatched the first of the reboot trilogy last night. That one holds up for me. I'm still so mad at the direction that trilogy took

Halloween III is so good. Probably the best of the sequels

Me and my wife have a tradition of getting drunk while watching Halloween 1 and 2, and then hocus pocus on halloween night. While eating a lot of candy of course. Stoked to do it all over again.

I liked The Exorcist, but, of all the things your mom could be doing in Hell, sucking cocks doesn’t seem that big of a deal.

Guys, Dark Harvest rips. It's like an amalgamation of The Purge, Pumpkinhead, and Lord of the Flies all set in a Stephen King ass town in the 60's. Hard recommend.

Watched Evil Dead Rise over the weekend and it was pretty good. Not earth shattering, but I like the idea that ED is essentially turning into an anthology series — like all the different ways the same story can unfold.

The Exorcist tonight, maaaybe Bodies Bodies Bodies after I thought BBB was ok but I also slept through the middle third of it I really liked that movie. Has probably my favorite ending to a horror movie in a long time. The movie seems to be self aware and making fun of all the characters and their personality's.

Just watched PET SEMATARY (OG) for the first time without commercial breaks and since before I was a teenager. Is it a particularly good movie? Not really. But the King book and the story is so good it helps out with any of the clunkiness of the acting, and it has late 80s/early 90s camera on it where everything feels thick and cold, so that works wonders. Whaaaaaat the OG has no flaws. It's goddamn perfect. I mean that's fair. I definitely like it.

There is a certain brand of mid 2000s horror that my wife was a fan of in middle school that we both know now are objectively terrible but are so terrible that they are fun to watch. Last night we watched one of these, the 2006 remake of Pulse. It was crazy just how terrible it was. People talk all the time about how dead horror was in the early 90s, which is certainly true, but I think the late 2000s were an equally as bleak time for American horror movies. There are a couple gems in there like House of the Devil and the Strangers but it was pretty dismal. I honestly think we are in a similar slump right now (although not quite as bad), after such a boom of great stuff in the mid-late 2010s, Talk To Me and M3gan are the only major non-sequel horror movies I can think of that I really dug.

You didn’t dig X or Pearl? I loved Pearl. X was really solid. Ti West is a fantastic director. I'm not saying there aren't any good movies being made. But compare 2016-2019 to 2020-2023 and its not even close. And obviously covid could have had a hand in that, but I also think the genre is trying to find whats next after the wave of A24/Neon horror movies of the previous decade. Talk To Me got a really good response, but thats about it. I think Terrifier 2 and Evil Dead Rise have shown that people are thirsty for more gore driven movies, but we'll see. I admittedly still need to see When Evil Lurks.

Watched the stepfather 1 and 2 yesterday. That dude who plays the step-dad is so fucking good. The movie hits different when you have a fucking psycho for a step-dad lolol. But fuck man, that dude has a real deranged feeling to him. There were times I was creeped out by him just being on the screen. Both are really really good.

I read Dark Harvest and can't wait to stream that. Tried to catch When Evil Lurks in theaters but it was only there for a week.
Did not care for Pearl as much as X, no idea why people thought it was better.

Been watching all the Saw films in preparation to watch the new one. Is it bad that I can find redeemable qualities in all of them? I love the ridiculousness that it delves into in the later ones. The pound of flesh trap was wild lmao

Been getting through the 2000's remake wave.
Dawn of the Dead and The Hills Have Eyes are both awesome.
Friday the 13th "Stupendous tits" was dogshit.

The Hills Have Eyes is my favorite of the remakes. The first half was intense. I also really liked F13 and the first TCM remake

Catching a showing of Abel Ferrara’s Body Snatchers tonight at my local indie spot. I know I must’ve seen this but have zero memory of it. IOTBS rules tho so I’m stoked

Dawn of the Dead remake pissed me off as a kid. Why tf would you leave a fully stocked mall to sail to an island that may or may not exist? It makes no sense.
