It's crazy how different the tone of TCM and TCM2 are but both are so good on their own

I came around on the X trilogy. I didn't enjoy the original, thought Maxxxine was just fine but Pearl is just perfect. Chapo Trap House has an adjacent podcast called Movie Mindset and covered NOTLD and TCM last year, this year they did DOTD and TCM2. I finally saw TCM2 but don't think I've seen anyone enjoy a role more than Bill Moseley as Choptop. I only saw X and did not like it That was my initial assessment and I didn't like it at all. Pearl is absolutely worth watching and works as a stand alone.

It's crazy how different the tone of TCM and TCM2 are but both are so good on their own I'm a 2003 TCM remake defender and remember bands like Remembering Never using those samples. It definitely took the same tone but never hits like the original. The original is one of the most bleak and brutally disgusting films of all time and then 2 is this absurdist Three Stooges level goof em up.

I watched Alex Winter in Freaked (1993) and someone said it was the closest thing to a live action Simpsons/Ren & Stimpy episode and can't agree more. Just ridiculous gags and jokes pumping every other second. Has Brooke Shields, Mr. T, Bobcat, Keanu, Randy Quaid, etc.
It's a perfect light hearted gross out fest with something like Earnest Scared Stupid.
Some ghoul uploaded it if that tone is interesting. Once you get past the first ten minutes it's balls to the wall.

I really liked X. Movie was good and Mia Goth and the other actress with the black hair is hot so sue me.

Hated V/H/S Beyond. But I am not really an alien movie guy and it was very heavily sci fi/alien.

X is solid and Pearl isn't better but I love what it added. Can't wait to stream MaXXXine in a few days. Also watched Freaked at a way too young age with my dad.
For books I'm reading one that newer M Night movie The Watchers is based on and it's a solid horror read. Apparently Bird Box is also good & the author was pissed what they did with it. Checking that out next.

It was a total adrenaline rush, I’d rather them be horror for sure but not gonna act like they weren’t fun to watch. Also hit Mahoning Drive In last night for the trifecta of Halloween 3, Night Of the Demons and Trick R Treat. I haven’t seen NOTD in a long time, much better than I remembered

I liked the last segment with the space ship. Hated the Justin Long dog one. Totally took me out of it for that segment.

I think this was the best of what we could have got. Would have loved that but don't know if it ever would have been as good. The milkman scene is an all time quotable "13 milkmen is silly" as well as "In the center square Mr. Paul Lynde" or "Styrofoam cup?"

I haven’t thought about Freaked in years. That’s one of those movies that was always on HBO or Cinemax as a kid, and I watched it a ton. Absolutely bonkers. Sunday is movie day and I’m positive my wife has never seen it, so it’s going on tomorrow’s watchlist.
Watched Ready or Not last night for the first time since seeing it in the theater when it released. Movie’s a blast and Samara Weaving kills it. Forgot how hilarious the ending is.

Watch it again. One of my favorite horror comedy's. Movie is surprisingly depth full for a dumb comedy. So much fun! If your wife's never seen it that should be fun.

Definitely watching it. My buddy put me on his Plex server when COVID hit - Just checked, and it’s in his library, which is not at all surprising and rules.

I’m revisiting Diary of the Dead. The dialogue is all fucking horrible and the actors suck but it’s still decent enough to watch. Overall, still such a huge drop off from his earlier stuff
Edit- this might be the most unrealistic zombie movie I’ve seen in terms of how people react to the situation

I'm glad he was able to.

Since I have nothing going on tomorrow I've decided I'll watch The Subspecies series - haven't watched it since I was a kid. It probably won't be as cool as I remember.

I've been watching horror movies for over 30 years at this point. The gorier and more violent the better. That movie made me uncomfortable at several points. Absolutely unhinged and insane

Absolutely unhinged and insane I watched the second yesterday and felt the same, but I'm guessing the third really ups the ante. Speaking of, the second was way too long but definitely saved by the lead girl and Art's performance. Don't remember him being so campy in the first but it's a really great physical performance from the guy who plays him.
