I think I said it earlier, but it is unnecessarily too long and some of the shit, story wise, makes no sense. The kills were absolutely crazy. Art and the director were in town over the weekend and confirmed they’re doing 4. I enjoyed it, but the story was ehhhhhhhh.
The drippini scene, though. Ffffffffuck.

Can't be that bad. Are the sfx better than the last one with all the cat food in the "Most Shocking Scene Ever!"? Or is it shocking because of the amount of cat food? Shocking scenes but I saw straight throught the B movie sfx.

I liked it more than the 2nd one, which definitely felt like it wen't on too long. I didn't get that feeling from this one. Kept me engaged the entire time and yeah the kills were over the top insane. It crossed many lines on multiple occassions and made you think "they're not really going to...well I guess they did"

Was cold and rainy yesterday, just a perfect day to stay in and watch movies so I had myself a triple feature: The Boogeyman (1982) Halloween Halloween II

Had a hellraiser day yesterday. We started with 2022, then wen't back and did 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. So much fucking fun. 1 and 2 and certified classics. 3 is sick and has pinhead being more of an upfront presence, which I love cause he's hilarious and says cool shit lol. 4 was kinda meh, but not bad. 5 is interesting cause it doesn't feel like a typical hellraiser movie. It's an artistic slow burn, and the ending was bad ass.
We had so much fun, we decided to continue it and watch the rest of the movies. We're ready for shitty ones, and hopefully we'll be surprised. Idk, people tend to agree that 8-10 are ass cheeks. I say bring it on!

I literally only saw Hellraiser 1 & 2 for the first time last week, and those movies fucking rule. Have heard bad things about the rest but I'm ready to dive in further.

I have watched the OG Hellraiser a few times and I've never been able to get into it at all. I did think the remake from a couple years ago was decent though

I think the first 2 Hellraisers are really good. 3-4 are alright, definitely watchable and fun. Don't have any desire to watch the others, but you never know...

Watching 6 (hellseeker) right now and that dude "mayhem" from the all state commercials is the main guy. Really liking this so far. Another weird slow burn.

I figured, at least when it's bad, it's still entertaining and somewhat of a unique experience. It's a good time. Although none of em have been "bad" (so far)

I watch so many ‘’bad’’ movies and usually have a good time with them. Just not big on the Hellraiser franchise personally… even the first two aren’t completely my bag, but I still dig them and recognize their importance to the genre. I really have to re-visit them sooner than not…

I saw some clips from Terrifier 3 and it just looks stupid. In terms of special/practical effects, I'll admit it's something. But it just feels so over the top to the point where it seems like the director and SFX team were just trying to see how much they could do. Maybe I'm missing something deeper in the movie (probably not), but it's very edgelord in its tone and execution.

They do try to tackle PTSD themes for the Final Girl trope, but only really on a surface level

Ive always been a slasher fan. Most of those movies have no point beyond people getting fucked up by a monster for 2 hours. It's just fun no underlying motive or big brain plots generally. Terrifier just does it well with alot of tongue in cheek humor and extremely over the top kill scenes

i'm going to have to catch the entire terrifier series. i've watched the first, but it's been about 2 yesar since i last watched it.
and i've yet to catch the second.
i realize continuity isn't big deal when it comes to these sorts of horror films, but it would be nice just to sort of compare them all.

I’ve seen that “one scene” on several horror YouTube channel thumbnails but never knew it was from this flick. Super well done, and worth a watch. I always find at least one very solid found footage every year.

Same here actually. Never was into the sub-genre, still think like horror in general, there’s more bad than good, but since I’ve never prioritized it, the past four or so years we’ve gotten one or two solid viewings in for our 31 movies of the month/season.

I watched all 11 hellraisers last year. I would say only the 1st four feel like actual hellraiser movies with the rest being scripts that they just dropped pinhead in on. 8 has a real early 2000s vibe if you’re into that and is probably the only one really watchable past 6 (outside of the Hulu one which wasn’t bad)
Been doing puppet master this time around and on the 12th now. The 8th was almost entirely direct flashbacks/clips from the 1st seven movies. IMDb trivia says it was filmed in 2 days.

For some reason I never got into terrifier. Saw the first one and thought it was OK. I'm a huge fan of over the top gore, like, the crazier and more fucked up, the better, I just wasn't drawn to the main clown dude for whatever reason. Weird.

Yeah 5 and 6 were totally different and almost didn't feel like hellraiser movies and then pinhead just appears sporadically. Thought they were cool though cause it's basically people living in their own hell while pinhead's antagonizing them about it lol. Stoked to see 8 tbh, cause I'm very into early 2000s vibes! In the middle of 7 rn.
