I thought it was fine, but that's how I felt about the first one.

Smile 2 is good. It’s diff enough to keep you engaged, has some legit scares and Naomi scoot delivers a very solid performance.
If you weren’t too impressed with Smile 1 you’re getting more of the same tho tbh.

I also thought Smile was just alright, pretty generic and forgettable... obviously I'm in the minority here.
This woman is a reputable doctor and when she starts experiencing all this weird shit everyone around her is basically like ''bitch, you're crazy'' the whole movie lol

It's funny I just watched smile (the first one) last night. So when I first saw it, I thought it was OK. Pretty cool but nothing special. But then last night, I was creeeeeeped the fuck out and was like "damn. That's one of the better ones I've seen so far this october."
Totally changed my mind on it, and now I hold it really high up there in terms of recent films. Like, over Barbarian, and I LOVE Barbarian. Kevin bacon's daughter (can't remember her name) is one hell of an actress. I genuinely felt worried for her lol.

Also everyone in that movie is such a piece of shit to her except her ex and her boss. It was really pissing me off. Can't wait to see the second one.

I might have to give it another chance since many people (like mr Loblaw and you) who my tastes usually align with think it's great.
Gearing up to watch a rare Wes Craven blind spot tonight with The Serpent and the tie dye, really excited for it!!

I had surgery last Tuesday so decided last minute to do 31 for 31. I’m 12 deep since Thursday but looking for modern recommendations if you guys have any? I had kids and my wife doesn’t like horror so I’ve barely watched anything new since like 2015.

Just watched Alice, Sweet Alice (1976) and it rips. I read some reviews afterward and the best description I found described it " as if John Waters made a giallo movie". The women in this movie act their fucking asses off. My favorite scene from this Halloween watching season so far...

I love this one so much Just read this about the casting of the sleazy landlord, who I was shocked to learn he never played a role in any John Waters movie... " Of the supporting cast, Alphonso De Noble, a New Jersey native, was cast as the sleazy landlord after director Sole had seen him impersonating a priest in local cemeteries." Sorry, last update on this movie for a while, but this was a very interesting read about Alphonso De Noble. halloweenlove.com/the-strange-sad-saga-of-alphonso-denoble/

I don't easily/often get creeped out but I just got done watching Megan is missing for the first time and I'm creeped out.
I think it might just be what found footage does to me because I remember that feeling from watching the poughkeepsie tapes a few years back.

Posting here too because I liked it so much. Hellboy: The Crooked Man is a great folk horror film and it deserves much more praise than what it’s getting. It’s the best adaptation of the comic to date, and it actually tries to be a Hellboy movie instead of just a dumb superhero flick

Thought Daddy's Head was good.
Also think I liked Smile 2 more than I originally thought I did. I think they packed a bit more dread in this one, and Naomi scoot really sold it for me. Plus the score is fantastic.

Watched house of the devil for the first time in a decade, and I stand by The Innkeepers as the better Ti West flick Also The Frighteners has a tough time holding up. I still like it but did not remember it being so goofy

Man, I guess I need to revisit The Innkeepers. I remember feeling very underwhelmed when I rented it from Blockbuster but I’ve been wrong before admittedly

Watched Black Roses for the first time last night. Very silly, but I do love a good corny 80s heavy metal horror flick.

I still like it but did not remember it being so goofy I need to give Innkeepers a rewatch, but i remember being pretty disappointed by it after adoring House of the Devil. The Frighteners is definitely in the Beetlejuice lane of horror-ish movies.

The Frighteners is a big time comfort movie for me. Wish Jackson would go back to mid-budget movies.

Saw the Innkeepers premiere at Fantasia years ago and thought it was fine. My friends were also underwhelmed by the movie. I really need to give it another chance since I freaking love Ti West

Rewatched Cronenberg's The Dead Zone today, and goddamn, what a killer movie. I feel like it gets low rated in the conversation of both Cronenberg and King adaptations, but I totally forgot how fantastic is. My only gripe is that it could have been 15 minutes longer just to flesh out the final act.

My only gripe is that it could have been 15 minutes longer just to flesh out the final act. I did the same a few months ago and was blown away by it. Hadn't seen it in decades and was way better than I remembered. Probably because it's more mature than the Freddy and Jason shit I grew up on at the time. People may have expected more body horror out of Cronenberg. Haven't read the book so I don't know if anything interesting is missing, but shit really held my attention.
