I love the frighteners and have since it came out when I was a kid, and it was intended to be goofy so…? But I get that formula maybe doesn’t hold up the same for someone years later.
Finally watched terrifier 2, plot was so fuckin dumb in a non-enjoyable way. Prolonged kill scenes were not really my bag as I don’t go in on the torture porn stuff. Least enjoyable type of horror for me. Like I enjoy good gore but when someone’s being dissected for 3 minutes straight it starts to lose me. That said I’ll still watch 3 just cause. It’s cool that art the clown has become a horror icon, as someone said it’s been a long while since there was one in the mainstream eyes.
Also rewatched ginger snaps, I really enjoy this movie still and think it deserves a seat at the exceptional werewolf movies table. Some people think it’s hamfisted and its puberty analogy is lame but I dig it and think it paints a pretty accurate portrayal of kids that age, especially for such a low budget movie. And let’s not forget the bangin soundtrack.

Rewatched Cronenberg's The Dead Zone today, and goddamn, what a killer movie. I feel like it gets low rated in the conversation of both Cronenberg and King adaptations, but I totally forgot how fantastic is. My only gripe is that it could have been 15 minutes longer just to flesh out the final act. I did the same a few months ago and was blown away by it. Hadn't seen it in decades and was way better than I remembered. Probably because it's more mature than the Freddy and Jason shit I grew up on at the time. People may have expected more body horror out of Cronenberg. Haven't read the book so I don't know if anything interesting is missing, but shit really held my attention. I really oughta rewatch that. Caught One Cut of the Dead last night. Was just about to turn it off about half an hour in, thinking "this is what everyone's been raving about?" and then (won't spoil it just in case) shit just changes and by the end I was totally charmed by it. Great film.

Watched a bunch of F13s today. While 2 and 3 are my favorites, part 5 a new beginning really stood apart this year for me. I found myself really drawn in by the amount of memorable scenes and characters. The weird ass old lady and her hard-rocking son, demon and his enchiladas, the big hooter chick getting stabbed in the eyes, cocaine dude and his bimbo girlfriend at the diner, dancing goth chick in her room, the little black boy and his ridiculous high pitched scream. It gets a lot of shit for not actually having jason, but I don't mind it at all. It's a super solid and super fun movie. Now my top 3 are 3, 2, and 5.

It's fun because the guy who directed it made Savage Streets. Not a great F13 movie but it's a fun sleazy slasher and I appreciate that. Plus it's the one I saw on TV the most other than the original ironically.

The movie is pretty faithful to the book. There aren’t any major omissions that I can recall, the book just goes into a lot more detail, for example the book includes a lot more of Greg Stillson’s backstory.

My top 3 F13 movies are probably 3, 4, 8. But I wouldn't really say I dislike any of them. My favorite slasher franchise for sure

8 more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween... 8 more days till Halloween
Going to be watching soon as well, it's become a holiday staple. Tom Atkins absolutely nails the lovable scumbag role in this one. From bailing on his kids via a call from a phone booth (with a sixer of Miller on top) to asking Ellie how old she is after having sex with her… just casual shit before saving the world.

Been enjoying this new boxset over the last few days. Four horror movies made for eyetalian TV that never made it on air because the content was too wild. Not sure what they were thinking, but hiring Fulci and Lenzi probably wasn't a wise choice if they wanted anything on the tamer side. Not either directors best work to be sure, these movies are still very entertaining. Just watched House of Witchcraft and loved it. The ending features the same grim reaper (with maggots coming out of his face) as in Ghost House... he swings his scythe and chops off a dude's head... the head flies off and lands in a witch's cauldron while she laughs maniacally. Great stuff. Also looking forward to a re-watch of this one, such a cool cover. Hollywood 90028

we’ve been working our way through the saw franchise lmao. it rocks/sucks
it’d be one thing if jigsaw just tortured and killed people but he’s supposedly coming from this place of morality and healing or whatever. instead of torturing people like murderers and rapists, he’s chosen former drug addicts, people who have attempted suicide and a family whose son was killed by a drunk driver and they’re obviously upset about it. it’s so weird

I've only seen the first one (it was alright)... maybe I need to change that.
Just not sure when that would happen, there’s so many options out there... do I watch Saw 3 or an old Lucio Fulci movie?
Easy choice lol

I think it about it a couple times a year, but it is just mind boggling that there hasn't been a F13 movie out since '09. I know there's major rights issues with Cunningham and Miller, but the money being left on the table is ridiculous.

I actually watched a F13th fan film yesterday lol (Never Hike in the Snow) cause it got referenced on a Dead Meat kill count (and apparently has a kill count video of its own.) It's apparently one of 3 made by the same people and they actually got the dude who played Tommy Jarvis in part 6 to reprise his role. Dont know if ill bother with the others but I admire the enthusiasm.

I'm super late to the game on terrifier. Watched the first one a week ago, and the second one last night. Very different from each other- def liked the first one way more, but still enjoyed the second one a lot despite what felt like a total departure lol

i think F13 is stuck in purgatory partially cuz the next one would be # 13. as others have said, the remake is fantastic. i’ve sung its praises too many times but it legitimately rocks. maybe the best horror remake in the last 20 years
