To think we got robbed of that scene taking place in Madison Square Garden because of budget constraints, but the head flying into a dumpster is the kind of ingenuity that carries it regardless

Jennifer’s Body is indeed good and I was dumb for ignoring it all these years after reviews painted it so poorly

Watched a bunch of F13s today. While 2 and 3 are my favorites, part 5 a new beginning really stood apart this year for me. I found myself really drawn in by the amount of memorable scenes and characters. The weird ass old lady and her hard-rocking son, demon and his enchiladas, the big hooter chick getting stabbed in the eyes, cocaine dude and his bimbo girlfriend at the diner, dancing goth chick in her room, the little black boy and his ridiculous high pitched scream. It gets a lot of shit for not actually having jason, but I don't mind it at all. It's a super solid and super fun movie. Now my top 3 are 3, 2, and 5. 5 was my first F13, and probably my first slasher. It def has a warm place in my heart, but I was chalking that up to nostalgia. So crazy to think how triggering this movie must be to some people now. Like, zero way that's getting made today without some sort of morality tale attached to it.

The director also made porn and it shows cause in the sex scene behind the scenes he's screaming "Fuck her, fuck her harder, grab her tits, grab her pussy." Fun fact the actresses last name is Voorhees.

Linda Blair in Savage Streets is the woman of my dreams… when she’s smoking in the bath (pre-revenge massacre) followed by that leather suit zip-up… yowzers.
Top ten all-time favorite movies for me.
Great lines. Great cast. Killer soundtrack.

Linda Blair could definitely get it back in the day, but her face looks so chronically underage. Maybe it's the cheeks? Not sure if it's a paper bag situation or not.

Oh, and bringing it back to Ti West for a moment. I just realized that Max brought back X, so I had a run of X, Pearl (fucking amazing), and Maxxxine. I'm still in the middle of Maxxxine, but I'm loving it.
I had never made the connection to House of the Devil, which has been a favorite, but now I feel like I need to see the Innkeepers.
Also, I'm super happy that I didn't skip X and go straight to Pearl. I may need to give that whole series a rewatch after Halloween.

Watched Smile 2. Absolutely loved the opening and thought the whole movie would be hitting that hard but then... SPOILERS BELOW cause I don't know how to the html wizardry to conceal my shit . . . . . . . We go into the day in the life of Lady Gaga with some music videos trojan horsed into the movie, which would have been fine if the majority of those scenes didn't step away from the plot, but that gave it kind of tedious energy that made me want to movie to end. Also it was lazy and misleading to have Kyle Gallner's character killed by a truck and have a separate car accident (also in the winter, mind you) be the root of Skye Riley's trauma. Yes, the drug dealer witnessed the murder, but just one more mental knot to untangle. Then there's all those reality rug pulls that they covered their ass on, but felt like they just kept doing the same magic trick expecting you to be cool with it when it really undoes the last 45 minutes of the movie (which were the most interesting beyond the beginning imho) just so it can execute the curse scattershot from Skye Riley's performance. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Also why the fuck was this 2 hours and 12 minutes? Nary a horror movie needs to be that long with very few exceptions. So much extra with this movie that it was exhausting. Even the impactful moments started to feel overkill. It's been a while since I've gone off on a horror movie like this, but having sat on this for a day and with my frustration not abating, I had to call it out. Not sure if many will agree since it's been so well received, but I feel like I saw something completely different. For the record, I generally liked the first one and I thought this was shot well, had one really effective jump scare and the mysterious texts actually kept me engaged. Also, Naomi Scatt did a stellar job with the role, but, yeah, this was definitely not for me.

Watched house of the devil for the first time in a decade, and I stand by The Innkeepers as the better Ti West flick Also The Frighteners has a tough time holding up. I still like it but did not remember it being so goofy I remember watching this in college with my girlfriend at the time, and she burst into tears and nearly hyperventilated at the scene near the beginning where the main character's friend gets blasted in the head.

This is my annual spooky season defense of Halloween III Season of the Witch.
Ignoring that it's some weirdly conceived attempt to serialize the Halloween franchise, it absolutely stands on its own as a fucking COOL storyline and an all-time performance from horny and drunk Tom Atkins, whose characters in Carpenter movies I seem to relate more and more to as I get older lol.
It's awesome to see that the apinion on this movie has really started turn in the last decade and a half or so. As a young horror fan, the consensus was that movie was just a massive flop and people didn't even pretend existed. As a kid I'd even say stuff like that lol, it was a weird movie!
I'd probably put it up there after the original Halloween. I grew up in a town real similar to the ones in the movie, and it really captures a moment of time that Halloween felt like as a little kid in the 1980s. Just a very cool movie, I ride with with 4ever.

I live under a rock and just discovered Tubi. What's good on it? In the last couple days I've watched Pieces and Fulci's The Beyond. I'm more into 70s/80s stuff.
Also, my kid is almost 10 and is getting into horror. So far we've watched FT13 1-6, Alien, Army Of Darkness, Elm Street 1, Shaun of the Dead, Tremors, Interview With A a Dracula, Sleepy Hollow and a few others. He asked me to turn off Dead Alive at the soup scene.
What else would be good to show him?

They Live Creepshow 2 The Frightners Carrie Elvira Mistress of the Dark Night of the Creeps (Angry drunk Tom Atkins) I would say Return of the Living Dead but linnea Quigley is naked the entire movie Christine Death Becomes Her The Gate Troll 2 Maniac Cop I got plenty more but a lot of them are way too violent or sexual for a little boy. Also sorry if there are boobs in any of these I can't remember. I was a boy when seeing some of this stuff and I turned out... As for just you the list will be longer hold on...

Pluto and Freevee might have some other content worth checking, but a lot of the free apps/sites have a similar catalogue you should definitely watch They Live with him. The Fog has got to be available somewhere, or it had been for a while, i loved that movie as a kid. ghostwatch is good as an example of early found-footage and it might still hold up to a degree. tremors is always good with a kid, i loved Cube when i was a kid too. christine is finally on free streaming. the 2005 call of cthulu is a lot of fun. the changeling is a great haunted house movie but might be a little dull for a kid, same with like, lake mungo other suggestions i'm coming across might be a little much for 10 years old, but there's actually a lot of gems on the free services if you dig through enough shit.
