You really gonna tell me its better than the Suspiria sound track? *Chef's Kiss* Suspiria is third, Beyond the Darkness is second, Dawn is first. Speaking of which, weren’t you going to watch Dawn like a week ago?? What did you think??

Ended up watching Megan is Missing out of morbid curiosity.
I’ve never watched a film and afterwards had fantasies of beating the shit out of the filmmaker. Congrats, Michael Goi! You’re human garbage!

Had folks over to watch Underwater (2020) and the ‘90 Night of the Living Dead last night. They’d never seen that NOTLD, and it’s always kinda fun to be there when people check that out for the first time. 1990 night of the living dead rules so hard. i like it waaaaaay more than the original. Whoa I love Savini's and respect your apinion, but... whoa That's all I got lol

Was feeling under the weather last night and watched the first 3 Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Still think 2 is really rough. I know over time alot of people have come around to it but I had a hard time getting through it. Not a good movie and it has nothing to do with the gay themes. Just poorly done.

I seriously love part 2. The opening with the school bus is fantastic.

It just feels so weird and completely separate from the rest of the franchise. I don't like how it breaks from the "rules" of the first movie either. The pool scene is especially ridiculous, especially that kid that tries to reason with Freddy like he's a child. I do get a laugh when he says "Help yourself fucker" lmao

It's funny how much Halloween 4 tried to borrow from the sorta prevailing horror of the late 80s into the early 90s. Even the way it's filmed has that sorta Wes Craven Elm Street look to it. Even the over-the-top blood in the ambulance and inventive kills is just a real deliberate nod to that "MORE MORE MORE!" thing that the industry was trying to do when bigger budget horror was at its peak.
Horror movies have come a long way but I still miss that window of stuff from the late 70s through the mid 80s. Before it just became about shock and making money, you had guys like Cronenberg doing legitimately unsettling stuff.

1 is the best. 2 is unique and great. 3 is the crowd pleaser. 4 is the second best one. 5 is good but that ending what was that? Freddy's Dead is a film. New Nightmare is Scream before Scream.

I bought the box set when I was 11, based on Night and Dawn. I can’t even work out why I like it so much but Day blew me away and it’s stuck with me ever since.

Even the over-the-top blood in the ambulance and inventive kills is just a real deliberate nod to that "MORE MORE MORE!" thing that the industry was trying to do when bigger budget horror was at its peak. I guess also they were desperate to revive the series and have a “hit” by any means necessary after Halloween 3 flopped. Personally I wish they’d stayed the course with the Halloween themed anthology idea and kept Michael dead.

Cross post from film thread…
Big fan of Mads on Shudder. The continuous shot approach worked really well and I thought the performances were all pretty damn strong.
The title sequence was SO sick, too.

It’s Halloween week, boils and ghouls !!! Getting into the heavy hitters tonight with either Halloween III or 4.
The opening title sequence in H4 is the essence of the Halloween season, so fucking cozy.

I’m behind and it’s stressing me out.
Been a lot of lighter stuff this year compared to others. I’ve got work to do in the last handful of days. I know I’ll be getting The House That Jack Built and Rosemary’s Baby in. Halloween night is always Hocus Pocus because I’m deeply committed to being corny.
31 Days of Horror 2024
1: Jeepers Creepers 2: The Taking of Deborah Logan 3: Drag Me To Hell 4: Terrified 5: Tucker and Dale 6: The Crazies 7: The Substance 8: Doctor Sleep 9: Hubie Halloween 10: Ready or Not 11: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 12: Caddo Lake 13: Freaked 14: Terrifier 2 15: Sleepy Hollow 16: They Live 17: ParaNorman 18: Frankenweenie 19: My Boyfriend’s Back 20: Just Before Dawn 21: American Werewolf In Paris 22: Jennifer’s Body 23: Idle Hands 24: Mads

You’re human garbage! Makes me sound like an old man, but just a misguided and awful movie. Cruelty and darkness without a point. If he had a daughter, he wouldn’t have made it.

Finally got round to watching The Birds last night. Very slow burn, but when it kicks in, shit goes hard. Didn't realise how vicious it got. paulkersey that's a strong list, did you watch The Final Destination for the We Hate Movies episode? Cos that's what I did. Watched the fourth Wishmaster film for the same reason, just started their ep on it.

I actually watched a F13th fan film yesterday lol (Never Hike in the Snow) cause it got referenced on a Dead Meat kill count (and apparently has a kill count video of its own.) It's apparently one of 3 made by the same people and they actually got the dude who played Tommy Jarvis in part 6 to reprise his role. Dont know if ill bother with the others but I admire the enthusiasm. Never Hike Alone is good stuff, the others are okay, but yeah the enthusiasm is definitely to be admired.
