Never saw 2. Didn’t think it could live up to the first, which did indeed rock. Really solid, unnerving mood throughout.

How do you all feel about Terrifier? I feel like the plots are weak and its kind of just gore porn.

They are everything I want in a modern slasher movie.

I enjoyed the first but the second one I wasnt a fan of. The plot was kind of silly.

Just watched Sinister -- pretty good with some legitimately chilling super 8 footage. Seriously, some of those are going to stick with me. That said, I don't think we got a decent payoff with the actual ghost/spirit/haunting at the end. I had set a goal of watching all the Universal monster movies, but ended up watching none of them. There's about enough time to get through 2 movies before Halloween and I'm thinking the OG Dracula, followed by Bram Stoker's. OR finish with something fun on the 31st with Hubie Halloween, Scary Stories Stories to Tell in the Dark, or Trick'R'Treat. As of now, I think I've done pretty well in terms of genre -- slasher, sci fi, international, 20's/10's/00's/90's/80's, haunting, posession, monster, witches, zombies, comedy, demons, art, etc. Hence the potential a Dracula finish. Sinister is really good but if we never saw the monster and if it was just about kids who kill for no reason I think it would have been more memorable. Finish with Trick or Treat it's by far one of the best anthology's ever made.

Tom Atkins helps himself to a big old mouthful of nipple in that flick too. Hell yeah, get it King. He and Ellie start making out again… Challis: wait, how old are you? Ellie: Don’t worry, I’m older than I look. Challis laughs and goes right back to business. My recollection is that he asks her age AFTER they’ve had sex?

Watched halloween 4 last night and will probably watch 5 tonight, soft spot for these 2 installments for sure. just got home and threw on monster squad. This movie was heavily responsible for formulating my love of horror in general and has remained one of my favorite movies since I was 4 years old.

watched the new Salem's Lot this weekend. it wasn't very good. I dislike the way Gary Dauberman's films look and feel. basically just Stranger Things episodes turned into movies.

Another Stephen King adaptation bites the dust. Should have been a miniseries. Starting to think adapting books into movies might actually be difficult.

Seemed like a shitload of material hit the cutting room floor which is astounding given that it was sent to streaming. Why not just release the director's cut? Derek Mears is credited as Hubert Marsten and he's not even in the movie!

The book goes back and forth between minor characters so it would fit better as a TV show you can stretch out.

Salem’s Lot didn’t have characters, just people who did things. Bill Camp was the only one that gave the audience anything to work with.

Stephen King books are structured in a way more befitting a TV show or Miniseries you can hardly condense a 600 page book into a easily digestible movie.

I haven’t read a crazy amount of king books but there are definitely far more misses than hits with the adaptations of his stuff. I tend to like his short stories and novels that veer more off the direct horror tip. ‘The long walk’ and ‘eyes of the dragon’ are my favorite things I’ve read of his.

sinister does indeed rock, and would've been a whole lot better without kane/slipknot guitarist. it must've suffered from studio meddling in a big way. i loved the slow motion ghost kids moving through the hallway toward the end, but everything that's great is completely undone in the last 1 second of the film

I'm sure there's pdfs online you could find without much trouble. great short stories, the mangler seriously rocks (which was also adapted into a movie that i havent seen) salems lot was meh, tonally it felt all over, and suddenly it was just "oh, well guess its a Dracula killing time". also, father callahan's faith being broken should've had a much bigger impact especially because of what becomes of him in SK Lore

Yesterday we binged the child's plays. Watched all of them except the 2019 one. Fuck that shit. 1-3 are classics. Can't go wrong there. Bride of chucky is literally perfect. One of the best horror movies ever. Seed of chucky is highly entertaining and has a really unique vibe throughout. Curse of chucky was pretty mid. Cult of chucky rocks really hard. Gonna add that to the list next year for sure.
It's an extremely consistent series overall. Jennifer tilly is pure gold.
