You folks watched Wolf Creek seasons 1 and 2? Both are overlong and not really scary at all, but I liked them well enough.

Child's Play Tv Show was pretty good too, although I haven't watched the most recent season.

The coolest thing about the Childs Play franchise is that aside from the remake, they've all been written (and subsequently directed) by the same guy, Don Mancini.

Let's have an honest conversation about My Bloody Valentine (1981). This is not a very good movie.
I get that it's a cult thing, and that it's got a lot of the elements from late 70s/early 80s slasher flicks that usually pay dividends for horror fans, but there's not a single likable or distinguishable character in the cast and there's just WAY too much downtime and creeping around/plot exposition for a horror flick.
Been a few years since I've watched it, so maybe I need a refresh, but I dunno.

i have similar feelings towards sleepaway camp. some kills are entertaining, like the beehive, but the movie sucks.

Yeah I can get down with both of those apinions but is there an unrated version of My Bloody Valentine? Too many movies from that era were neutered by the MPAA and get redeemed when seen with the original footage. Killer had a cool look in MBV and that setting was an ideal atmosphere but it just didnt click for me.

The Scream Factory version is uncut. I don't own it so I can't really speak on it though

Wouldn't be a cult movie if everybody liked it.

I love Sleepaway Camp. I had never seen it until I found a VHS copy of it in a free box at my ex's apartment complex several years ago.

Sleepaway Camp is obviously notable for one reason. But it can’t stand up against The Mangler or The Burning. And the sequels are all awful.
My Bloody Valentine remake is definitely way better than original. A great movie theater slasher experience. The Atkins kill is one of the all timers.

My Bloody Valentine is a stone cold classic. I absolutely love it. I think the characters are genuinely interesting compared to a lot of other slashers and we spend a lot of time with them, so the killings are more impactful. The love triangle is also compelling. I think the small town setting along with the coal mine are authentic and feel very lived in, it just gives the movie an extra layer. I can’t see how anyone who is a fan of slashers would dislike this one, but apparently that’s the case… completely wild to me. Remake being better than the original is flat out insane.
Sleepaway Camp is my favorite slasher of all time. To each their own, I guess… but how anyone could find the movie boring is beyond me.
At work and have to run, but just had to pop in to defend two of my beloved slashers. Some wild takes in here today.

It sucks I can’t remember the names of all the slashers I’ve watched. Really wish I would’ve started writing down every movie I’ve watched 20+ years ago instead of in 2018. Cuz slashers will blur together in my head and titles will elude me.

Sleepaway Camp is fine and you're thinking of The Mutilator.

I used to just dig around the late 90s internet for stories and weird behind the scenes info about the production of Return of the Living Dead. Lol.
ROTLD will always be my favorite horror flick, without question. After the Savini remake of Night, ROTLD was just… the definitive zombie flick to me. The dumb humor and bad line reads seemed much more obvious when I was younger, I think, because I watch it now and a lot of that stuff is just so indicative of that era of 80s low-to-mid budget movie making. It’s part of the charm lol.
I love that they inexplicably hint at Ernie being a Nazi for absolutely zero plot service whatsoever. I love how the ending could either be the most horrifying indictment on nuclear arms + Reagan era politics… OR the laziest, most rushed piece of shit you’ve ever seen. It rides 100% on what kind of person you are, really.
It’s one of those movies that just fucking lands, regardless of who you show it to. I’ve gotten sooo many roommates and girlfriends and old bandmates into horror explicitly THROUGH Return of the Living Dead. It just checks all the boxes.
