I would only go to a theater if an older movie is showing. Just cause I figure the audience is there to respect the movie

People laughing and cracking jokes during Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Suspiria, Halloween, etc.

Not a horror movie, but when I recently saw the 70mm screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was by far the worst theater experience of my life all thanks to this drunk idiot who even said that 2001 is the type of movie to drink to.

I've seen it in 70mm before, but I'm going to see it again next week probably in the new print. Fortunately, I don't think I'll have that experience.

yeah depending on the theater, area, it always differs for me on what kind of a theater experience its going to be - for regular screenings or any repertory ones. In Asheville, its always usually through a Film Society with a curator and speaker, so it has always been respectful of that, with laughing and applause and holy Shhh gasps when necessary (think car meets head in Deep Red). Then back in Johnson City around Halloween a crappy second run theater will show horror classics and (some) people will treat it as Mystery Science Theater. During Predator one year, during the "Dillon, you SOB" scene, two guys in the front stood up, quoted and did the handshake, which was actually met with laughter and applause from the rest of the audience and i will admit was kind of funny.

Haha the predator story actually sounds kinda funny. I don’t have a problem with people cracking jokes if that’s the agreed upon atmosphere and it’s a campy movie. The indie theater here has a thing called mondo Monday where they show a shitty campy genre movie every Monday and the whole purpose is for people to make jokes during it. But I don’t want to hear that shit durin Suspiria or Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Watching Demons for the first time. Stupid fun so far. Now that's a movie I wouldn't mind watching with a loud audience.

Also wasn't super keen on Suspiria remake, trailer looked absolutely mental. Not sure how I feel about Halloween, not in a gatekeeping sense or anytrhing though. I just don't know if I really care anymore about the franchise. Although it isn't technically horror, did anyone get into Super Dark Times?

I loved the crowd at the showing I wen't to as soon as the girl got decapitated. Absolute shock from everyone.

The Shining is still my all time favorite horror flick- such a minimalist approach but brilliantly executed by Kubrick.

The Frighteners and Re-Animator, both in 35mm and there is a Q+A with Jeffrey Combs

Anyone f'ing w Purge 4? I feel like three underwhelming movies was all I'm willing to give my time to. That's kinda my thinking as well. I really hated the first one, and the second two were only marginally better in my apinion. That said, I like all the race relations that seem to be at the center of this new one, especially all the little Birth of A Nation nods in the trailer. I'll probably end up seeing it, and I'll probably be let down.
