So our bad tariffs, just more of them.” Also can’t actually defend immigration on the merits and how it helps us economically cuz the average person doesn’t wanna hear it, so Trump wins that too. And then with entitlement spending, Trump has the best answer possible for incredibly stupid people: more of it, and pay for even less of it. Even if he doesn’t follow through with the more of it thing, Harris saying lots of entitlement spending but also not gonna big time slash taxes doesn’t sound as cool. |

Anyhow, Biden admin says they wont invoke Taft-Hartley if the ILA goes on strike Concrete policies with numbers attached that look complicated and shit, no thanks. But the average guy likes simple messaging, and Trump sure does simple. Kick the immigrants out that are destroying our economy and doing lots of crimes. Play hardball with other countries on trade cuz that’ll give us more jobs and drive down prices. It’s all backwards day magical thinking bullshit, but an 8th grader can digest it. |

If he wins, which unfortunately I still think is the more likely outcome here, it'll be because of this. Things that stick with the average, low education, low information, voter are simple messages. Economy good or bad? Current president fault. High prices? Current president fault. Person killed by immigrant, fentanyl, [insert Republican boogeyman]? Current president fault. Trump's team for all their faults, know this. It sucks seeing this confirmed in polling exit interviews, but dumb boomers and Gen Xers think Trump made the economy good, and Biden made it bad. Historically, that is the death knell for a candidate. |
