I kinda get what snakes is saying. I think it is better to have Dewine or Kasich as governors than someone like Desantis.

People who have always lived in states where the democrats have key structural advantages have a very different perspective (ironically, often tend to be unwilling to move to a state that leans republican but also think both parties are basically equally bad)

Romney and McCain losing to a black man broke the brains of the rank-and-file GOP establishment a lot of us grew up with. People joke about this "Trump Derangement Syndrome" among his haters but Conservatives ACTUALLY had that shit for nearly a decade. The primordial MAGA movement invented it with Obama.
An actual war hero and an uber-religious Reaganite couldn't win in '08 and '12, they knew they had to go back to the drawing board. Who knew they'd sink THIS fucking low though.

My blue state’s last Republican governor played a pivotal role in building the Kingdome—so, obviously a mutant psychopath.

“Why do drugs when you can mow a lawn” republicans thought they had a lot more control over the party than they actually do. But, on the other hand, they aren’t turning out in solidly red states that almost always hand the governorship to a generic Have A Beer With Me inoffensive middle-aged white guy. It turns out fully embracing and reinforcing victimhood messaging works better. That was always there, but it wasn’t the primary message.

I'd be a lot more willing to speak with or entertain ideas from the average republican voter if they themselves knew what it was they were voting for. Couple weeks out from the election, I'm still waiting for "what Trump did" to make these peoples lives so much better back in 2017-2020.
Gas? We're putting out more barrels now than Trump did, and that's largely an OPEC issue regardless. What else? Groceries? Trump dealt with less than a year of COVID before "see ya" and the fallout became the dems problem; experts say the tariffs Trump implemented (on, say, Chinese washing machines for example) didn't even make a dent. He puts sweeping across-the-board tariffs in place and all these companies are just gonna pass their losses onto consumers AGAIN. This guy isn't the answer for making things cheaper. Lest we forget this guy just threatened John Deere for no reason besides tough guy political posturing.
Abortion? Is anybody actually buying that "I did away with Roe to put the decision back with the states" bullshit? This guy really thinks we're as stupid as he is.
I used to be all "we deserve to have this country fail and shit to be chaos" about stuff but I don't want the young kids in my family to go through all of this, you know? Just gets harder and harder to insulate the people you care about from this brain rot shit.

I have a friend who found a job two weeks into his UI and is complaining about how tough the economy is. He’s a moron that listens to Rogan and Theo Von.

He made it ok to take pride in being a complete asshole to people, particularly minorities and women, which was all they wanted after the Obama years and the fallout of the Ferguson riots and initial wave of BLM protests. It's been said before, but the cruelty is the point.

100% but frankly I'd at least respect(?) them if they'd come right out and say it. This whole charade like these people are armchair economists tracking inflation and shit... just admit you like the guy "who tells it like it is" and you could care less if he improves the quality of life. The boost to their smooth brain ego and superior attitude's enough to make them feel like life's gotten better for them.

My waife always says “hurt people hurt people.” That’s all Trump and all his supporters are. They couldn’t give two shits about any actual improvement to quality of life. They’re all reeling from their own shitty lives themselves.
As long as someone else has it worse off, and they can just degrade someone (based on race, sex, gender, etc.) that’s all the “improvement” they need.

The economy is always bad for the Trump voter demographic bc they have no useful skills and are too stupid and undisciplined to effectively manage any money they make. Couldn't possibly be their fault though.

Executive level policy changes can be ephemeral. Except for the shitty ones like immigration policy and tariffs. Apparently those are forever.
