I dunno, there’s tons of money coming out of the fed and into my hands for at least a few more years no matter what happens.

My ballot was almost entirely right-wing measures desighned to destroy the administrative and regulatory state.

The big ballot issue here was doing nonpartisan district maps. Only the most loyal Trump voters seem to be opposed to that. That's a noble cause but I think in politics there is never a truly neutral measure especially right now.

The big measure was whether a casino should be built in my city. It's been a corrupt and shady process since the beginning but will probably pass because this area is starved for any sort of investment and development.

2.) Eliminate the MCAS graduation requirement.
3.) A union for rideshare drivers.
4.) Legalized psychedelic drugs.
5.) Minimum Wage for tipped workers.

Our biggest issue was voting for a new school, which has been coined “Megaschool.” It’s a k-5 school but for some reason is an entirely foreign concept to most in town.
The other was to fix the infrastructure around public water. Wish I knew if those that are opposed to the school primarily live in the area affected by the poor water so they can continue to drink lead.

Aren’t there usually 2 answers? Yes and no? It is a fill in the blank option. A new initiative in California.

Should any resistance libs attempt a jail break, I will refuse to ally with them, remaining in my cell, while screaming they are no better than our authoritarian jailers.

Wat. It's yes 33, no on 34. Nope. I voted no on 33 and yes on 34. I doubt that Prop 33 going one way or the other does much of anything. Prop 33 does literally nothing to reduce housing costs at all. It might provide some rent stabilization for a very small number of people in select areas. It will definitely slow down housing production and some cities will use it to effectively block new housing construction. It may cause rent to rise for younger people who are renting their first or second apartment.

I’d need to see more data on market concentration but I think I’d have voted Yes on 33 and probably also yes on 34.
But rent control without supply side fixes isn’t really going to help much.

unfortunately 33 is gonna be a majority NO. the most money pumped into that prop funded by apartment companies and the language tricking dumbass californians to think NO means affordable housing.

Our biggest issue was voting for a new school, which has been coined “Megaschool.” It’s a k-5 school but for some reason is an entirely foreign concept to most in town. Can you elaborate more on this? Small town with 4 schools: PreK - 1 2 - 4 5 - 6 7 - 12 Vote is to combine the three buildings for elementary grades into one, rather than continue to maintain the three older buildings that are desperate for updates all in themselves. But small town, old people, so we get the “I don’t have kids so why should I pay!?” type of responses.

The most likely outcome that would follow the passage of prop 33 would be basically nothing.
Reinvigorated public housing (especially mixed-income) and targeted regulations on landlords would be better ideas, plus some land-use and zoning reform (similar to what Laura Friedman has supported). Reducing parking minimums has proven to be more effective than rent control.
Building affordable housing is far too difficult as it is, and there needs to be a better subsidization scheme. I would assume that at least some of the cities trying to sue the state for mandating housing construction without success, would use rent control ordinances to make new housing construction financially infeasible, considering they do this with any other tool at their disposal already. A few cities would update rent control laws in ways that might prevent displacement in the short term. Rent control can work as a good bandaid, but it's only addressing one piece of the overall problem and if it isn't part of an overall housing package it can be harmful in the long term.

I’m very libertarian/lib technocrat-pilled on rent control (I miss when “liberaltarian” was thrown around a lot). Doesn’t work very well, with the limited success having shitty downstream consequences contrary to achieving affordable housing.

So, as soon as Narc moves to the treasure state and runs for office, I’m canvassing for him and illegally voting lots for him.
