I'm not trying to be hyperbolic but people have no idea how fucked we are with climate change. We crossed the Rubicon and it's infuriating seeing isolated individualistic "look out for yourself" attitudes ramping up as the window closes. It's mass disavowal. All the institutions we had to mitigate all of these problems failed. What will fill that vacuum isn't some 2-4 year electoral switch. The global consensus is already breaking down and countries around the world are isolating themselves and looking out for their own interests. I'll link to the most conservative IPCC and NOAA sea level rise projections where the entire global coast line pushes 1.5 billion people inland... The EU couldn't handle 1 million Syrian refugees without dissolving rapidly. Every day I wish I never majored in this shit or at least be able to turn off whatever switch it is in the brain to stop caring. It's like watching a slow motion car wreck all around you and we're all fiddling on our own roofs. Yo just curious, why do you and others stress about this? i know with all the bullshit going on, regulations of fish is something most of you don't care about but this is some straight up short sighted bullshit that could potentially destroy the population of the signature east coast salt water fish. If this EEZ is opened between long island and block island it will open up the chances that the EEZ will open up throughout the east coast, this would devastate the striped bass population. The biomass has been going down for years and a large reason is because of charter boats/commercial fisherman who regularly kill the large "cow" bass which are the most vital as the breeders. This all comes down to a small amount of special interests groups paying off my districts congressman, who is up for re-elelction but will probably win because many people in my area pieces of shit and he sucks trumps dick at any opportunity.
