MLK Jr won in the end to such an extent that everyone wants to claim him, even Glenn Beck. Now, that’s for purely optics reasons, but he remains such a popular figure that his terrible moral failings are almost completely ignored (moral failings is a polite euphemism, dude was a monster as assessed through a modern lens). Disenfranchising black voters is fucked, and though I don’t think enough localities have been successful enough to actually make much of a difference at the ballot box, the threat is there. But I just think the general theme is, like most things, stuff has gotten better, drastically in some cases, while often not being ideal.

I guess that’s a little nebulous. Far left in terms of economic policy? Foreign policy? Social policy or just social attitudes? Some of that stuff is contested over what constitutes far left or just left of center.

A social safety net like some European countries? Upsides and downsides there. I don’t think of that as far left.

Affordable housing? I think the better solution is changing zoning laws to allow for a lot more development, with affordable housing as enforced by the government still part of the equation but mitigated greatly by the sheer amount of supply.

When I say far left, what I’m talking about abolishing the police, abolishing capitalism, rose twitter type stuff. Or the old school leftist foreign policy that’s very similar to paleoconservative/Pat Buchanan shit with less racism. Or the quasi-ironic “kill the billionaires” posturing. 

I guess I dunno what you other folks think of as far left.

Not that it’s interesting or matters but the general policies or politics that animate my thinking or prescriptions are:

- Legalize prostitution
- Get rid of most zoning laws
- Abundance through the free market creates winner and losers but also stability
- Along with fostering stability, the government’s other primary role is protecting and promoting human rights
- Trans rights are human rights (probably needs to be said so nobody thinks I’m a social con of some shit)
- Gradual progress, not revolution

Kurt Vonnegut is my favorite author, but i could do without the Eugene Debs adoration. Many of my favorite games from the last 10 years were called successful jewish woman or woke propaganda. I got teary eyed when I beat Gone Home (it was like 4:30 in the morning and I was sick and I was overcome by the lesbian romance).

Edit: and vaccines and medical advances are super important and the fact that they’re under threat from reactionary pieces of shit is a big deal.

I mean, it wasn’t in order of importance. But it’s kinda near and dear to me, maybe especially cuz I have no interest in it personally speaking. Seeing bogus trafficking numbers which double dip classifying a prostitute as both victim and trafficker will radicalize a man.

And I also forgot immigration on the list. More please. I can see cracking down on illegal crossings but you gotta drastically change the barrier for entry. Almost everyone gets in.
