That same apparatus has invested in anti-government rhetoric for decades, and the US federal government has gutted itself from within to ensure that it can never function in the ways that people need. I do not buy the reductive notion that there’s something special and intrinsic about Americans that makes them resistant to change or behave self-destructively. yes why I don't think it will change, but with new media podcast, new news shows that grip is shrinking, and duopoly system can't handle it. Motherfuckers want a complete overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, but those same people start screeching when you advocate market-pricing for parking their privately-owned vehicle. The latter is many times easier to do right here, right now. Loads of benefits. The visceral reaction -- as if it's a undue burden or takes away rights -- is telling. So, I just don't feel very optimistic about broad public support for taking the necessary steps to dramatically reform American foreign policy or healthcare or anything like that, but it's good that some people do.

For example, whether or not you benefited from the 2014 Medicaid expansion thanks to the ACA depends on what state you live in. When I lived in Indiana in 2014, Medicaid did not help provide health insurance for my brother, who did not meet the absurd low income requirements and so on. However, I did get healthcare because of the 2014 Medicaid expansion when I did not have employer-provided healthcare when I moved to California in 2020. so they did what they did with abortion, they ran on rhetoric, about how important it was then didn't do it, and now the states decide who dies. Sounds republican |

It also creates a game theory type of situation where families are forced to get bigger cars because it'll increase their chances of surviving a car accident. What's bothersome about reckless driving is the only things that can stop it are 1. law enforcement (tickets) or 2. accidents (fatalities) and as someone who doesn't love law enforcement I'm not sure what can/should be done. Do we really need more cameras because people drive like fucking assholes? |
