Regardless of how the economy is doing via abstract measurements, what people see concretely is a jump in housing prices and commercial vacancy rates following COVID. The latter was a full-blown panic for city economic development staff everywhere: Before COVID it was a problem, but it accelerated exponentially afterwards. I don't know how you tell people the economy is good when they look around at blocks of empty storefronts.

You can point at crime rates going down. Yet, even though the skyrocketing harassment and assault of frontline public sector workers was addressed in legislation, the fed sent out new rules/memos, and it was quietly addressed by the local/county agencies and organizations responsible, it wasn't really acknowledged as an issue by the Party. 

Barely anything that the Biden admin did that was arguably good was much of a topic of discussion at all, before or after Biden dropped out.

Anyhow, I'm blaming the old people. Fuck em.

I've been dying to post and now finally have the time to sit down and type out my thoughts.

I think this election says a lot about us as a society. What I mean by that is people are willing to ignore that someone is a 34 time convicted felon who has made racists and sexist remarks numerous times. In the grand scheme of things people looked past that because they just want the economy to be fixed and the border to be secured and it doesn't matter what said person has done. You would never know a stand up roast comic made a dumb joke about Puerto Rico which we thought was going to hurt Trump in this last couple days leading up to the election. Aside from maybe CNN and MSNBC the voters did not care at all about this joke. In fact Latino men came out in large numbers to vote for Trump and black men saw high numbers with Trump as well. This signifies to me that those particular populations don't want a woman as a president which is sad. 

This is two out of three elections the Democrats lost and their party is quickly in shambles. I don't know where they turn in the next four years and that should be very concerning for us all. If this red wave continues to sweep the country will end up with Ron Desantis (who will be 50 in 4 years) as president after Trump.
