I think the point sami and many other posters in this thread (time and time again) have tried to highlight is that there's a very real inability for some of you to grasp that the shortcomings of communist nations more times than not have very little to do with Marxism or Socialism as a concept and moreso to do with how these countries have operated historically for centuries. And simultaneously you somehow magically divorce the very real innate and inherent problems with Capitalism, Imperialsim and yes Fascism either due to convenience, ignorance or years of propaganda that has clearly worked very well. "The West" has pleeeenty of blood on its hands yet you rarely seem to want to discuss that. That's not really true. There's a 250+ page thread on police brutality in the US. You can do a search for people criticizing drone strikes, foreign wars, mistreatment of minorities or whatever because there are thousands of posts on this board about that. Also nobody suggested that, for example, China killing Indian soldiers on Indian territory or putting Muslims in concentration camps is a failure of Marxism per se. It has nothing to do with Marxism as a theory. Nobody suggested it did until the Marxists came in and defended those clear human rights abuses because they feel compelled to defend anything China's purportedly Marxist government does. Just read that Parenti excerpt Kroger beans posted last page if you want to know why some posters may be quick to notice and call out blatant capitalist & fascist propaganda. I don't know any of y’all personally so I’m not going to at all insinuate that any of you are pro capitalist or fascist. But when the talking points arise, it’s very hard not to have a very appropriate knee jerk reaction. |
