What are you interested in? I tend to gravitate towards Hegel, Marx, Engels. Anything close to that realm, new or old.

Zizek's political writing tends to kinda stink imo.

My favourite Hegelian takes are Shlomo Avineri's The Social and Political Thought of Karl Marx and Leszek Kolakowski's Main Currents of Marxism Vol. 1. Much better than that clown Zizek.

That sounds cool. I am ready to leave Zizek behind. I've read Sex and the Failed Absolute, Sublime Object, For They Know Not What They Do, a few of the shorter political books. So that's where I'm coming from.

Karen Ng’s book on Hegel was really well-received but I haven’t read it. That’s newer stuff. Robert Brandom, Robert Pippin, and Terry Pinkard have all written some of the more popular American stuff about or influenced by Hegel. Eliot Jurist’s Beyond Hegel and Nietzsche is a good one iirc. Peter Dews has some very good overviews of the adoption/rejection/continuation of Hegel and Marx in the 20th century by the Frankfurt School and in France, I recommend Logic of Disintegration.

These and Beowulf’s mentions are perfect since I’m looking to expand my knowledge of Marxist offshoots and theory. I just didn’t have a good starting point!

I've made it halfway through Chapter 15 "Machinery and Modern Industry" which is another highlight. It is obvious that there is continuity between this stuff and the 1844 Manuscripts and Althusser is a total fool. In the secondary literature I've read only Engels himself gets anywhere near the abuse that Althusser does which is probably unfair. Althusser on the other hand deserves every bit of scorn and mockery thrown at him.

Reading some more secondary literature now I just can't stay away. Got Jean Yves-Calvez's La Pensée de Karl Marx in a Spanish translation. I don't think any English translation exists and I can't find a PDF of the French original. In general it is much easier to find Spanish language stuff online for free than French. Unfortunately I can't read German so I can't be as big of a pretentious prick as I would like to be. Also punishing myself with the wife stranglng Althusser's For Marx.

I read an ig comment that said ice cream truck drivers can’t be considered working class and are actually part of the problem because they are self-employed and “would sell their newborn child for a chance at a billion dollars”. Is this true

Communism is the cold pizza of economic structures. So it tastes better the next day(for some reason) and helps when I'm hungover?
