Once a week for both, but I thought that was a regular amount?

My monsteras are heavy drinkers hard to believe they would be able to over water.
Not enough sun or being in a cold drafty area?

Yeah, I think I'm not letting sun in. But I have thermal curtains and I'm trying to keep the heat while it's freezing in my place (which is probably also not helping)

But I have thermal curtains and I'm trying to keep the heat while it's freezing in my place (which is probably also not helping) I have a grow light that I move around the house in the winter to blast on my plants. My monstera and prayer plant look like shit rn, what am I doing wrong? What city do you live in? Weather changing definitely affects the amount of water needed-especially if itβs not getting as much light. Put a wood skewer all the way in the soil and check how high up the moisture goes to determine if you need to water. You want practically no moisture when you pull it out because itβs winter. I cut back a lot of stuff that I was forced to put close together because of the cold. Replanted some stuff thatβll be nice by Summer. Dracaena Goldeiana paraiso verde

Itβs also hard to overstate the importance of air flow. No moving air makes soil take longer to dry out. Easier to overwater. Bugs.

I really only like house plants that I can murder due to negligence. Imagine the terror when my moms hung two flower pots on our porch and I didnβt water them and they didnβt die for long and I inquired the type of the plant that could survive me and no water: mom βFAKE!β Ugh

somebody help me out. I live in a long, narrow railroad apartment that only has windows on either end so a lot of the apartment has little to no natural light. as of right now the only plants that I bother to maintain are two cacti in my bedroom which is one of the rooms with windows. I'd like to get some plants toward the middle of the apartment so I'm wondering what would be some good plants that require as little sunlight as possible. I'm open to more cacti but I'd like to get some other stuff in the mix too.

Prayer plants can be kind of difficult. Red and lemon lime maranta can handle being dry better than green. Iβd keep green slightly moist and let the red and lemon lime dry out.

Once a week for both, but I thought that was a regular amount? Stick your finger in the soil before watering could help you gauge this if it's off, maybe you're good tho idk

Bros what am I supposed to do in the winter. Everything is so dry because the heat in the house is cracking but then when I water my hunny bunnies they just start dying. I'm having such a hard time this winter.

haven't posted many plant shits in a while. my big san pedro cactus broke in half from being too tall and thin. i probably didn't get enough light or some shit. i chopped the broken part off and made 3 cuttings that are currently curing in my basement cactus lab under grow light. did some plant movement for the winter: my gf made a grow light in our cactus area. this window gets the best light plus grow light i'm hoping they do well:

I'm having such a hard time this winter. Bring all your plants close to a building wall. The insulation will give them some warmth. Put them close together, but donβt smother them unless you know itβs only going to be for a night. Then you can space them out enough to breath and get whatever light is out. Invest in an oscillating ceramic heater. If you move your plants by a wall and closer together the heater will be more effective. You want to look out for any temperature below 54 degrees.

I can keep a dog, and even a child alive, but cannot for the life of me keep a houseplant alive.

I just got a cyclamen. I gather it goes dormant in the summer. Should I water it or do anything in particular to it in the summer?

made another grow light and set it up. also rearranged plants to be more exposed to light: probably done moving plants around for the winter trying to get them to survive. bought a blue spruce fat albert tree from a nursey that gets delivered 3-4 ft in size at the end of march. got a few small pine trees in planters outside. gonna cover up the back of neighbors garage with conifer trees long term. will obv takes years to come in but hopefully will look better than the back of their garage. might see if i can pick up another biggersized tree locally to plant.

i had to pick up a grow light as well, a couple of my plants were one foot in the grave after a couple months of the sun going down at 4pm but seem to be bouncing back. i only became a planthead last year so this is my first time trying to usher them through the winter, hoping for zero fatalities.
