Not true since I’m not the bio dad lol. Averys first bday party is on Saturday, cannot wait. She’s so cool. Been walking since 9mo old and super active. Looooves playing in water. Wondering if I still have time to get an Elmo costume in time??

Wife and I are through the first trimester, all the genetic testing/ultrasound stuff is looking good so we’ve starting telling our friends and people at work. I’m pretty jazzed, stressed out about where we’re gonna live because we’re currently in a 1 bedroom. We’ve been pretty frugal about our apartments in the past but both of us are doing well on the job front so now it’s probably time to splurge.

Congrats welcome to the dad cult. My little girl turned 3 months a couple days ago such a crybaby. Sleep deprived as hell but love her to death. I also got a 4yr old stepson who is super rebellious. Been raising him for like a year and some change. His dad OD'd when he was 2 going on 3 so I imagine its a trip for him even if he doesn't really comprehend what happened.

Congrats to the dad!
My kid keeps getting sick. My wife and I are doing baby lead weaning and practically feeding him whatever we eat. It has both its benefits and its drawbacks.
Right now he's got a gnarly bug which the doc assured us wasn't covid. His temp was only a concern the first night he was sick. Now it's all about keeping him hydrated/not nutrient deficient.
Gave him some meds and now he's snoring like a grown man.

My little dude is cutting his four top front teeth right now all at once. Not a happy camper and eating solids and sucking a bottle are clearly uncomfortable for him. Feel bad but he’s going to be so cute with those toofs 😭

In a week, my wife and 1.5 yr old are going to the beach for a week with 2 other couples who both have 1 kid each under a year old.
Will we actually have fun or will it only be relegated to after the kids go to bed? We'll see, but we've gotta get the fuck out of our house for a bit.

Congrats to all the new parents out there!
It's back to school season at my house. Little dude is heading to 2nd grade and my daughter is going into preschool -- all sorts of changes. My son's a champ and I'm not too worried, but my daughter is a spitfire. I'm curious to see how she handles wearing a mask all day and actually being required to produce some sort of output. She's been in daycare since she was 5 months, so she's totally socialized, but I've also seen weird bouts of drama creep into her daycare friend group already.

Just did a beach vacation with my kids and it was... interesting. My experience with vacations is that it's 80% total frustration and 20% amazing memories everyone will carry with each other forever. It'll help that everyone is in the same boat, even if it does bring some of its own unique headaches. Hopefully everyone has their own hotel rooms, or are you sharing a house?

Sharing a massive house, will definitely be interesting to see everyone's parenting styles.

Like 9.5 months! You? It’s insane how fast it’s going Wow, that's nuts! 4.5 months for us. Going through his sleep regression right now, but on the plus side, kid is absolutely adorable in his jolly jumper. I don't think I've ever seen another human being so proud of themselves.

Sleep regressions are brutal. We moved him to his own room at 4 months, took away the paci for sleep, and did Ferber and it was the best decision. He sleeps like a rock now from about 730 PM to 630 AM

Cannot believe my daughter is 16 months old already.
Starting daycare on Monday, i’m sure she will love it, but I don’t know how I will survive not seeing her all day everyday.

Well when we started replacing his paci throughout the night every 45 minutes we realized we had to change some shit ASAP. Ferber wasn’t fun for any of us for a week or so but now we’re all sleeping better than we have since he was born. It’s crazy wishing those night wakings away but then being bummed that I’ll probably never give him a bottle again in the middle of the night and have him fall asleep and coo on my chest while I rock us in the nursery 😭

My 14 month old hates pacifiers. He started to throw them out at 5 months, so that’s been pretty convenient. Other than that, he’s constantly running and loves being outside in this super hot/humid weather.

meant to post in here back when the thread first started, and we found out my wife was pregnant (our first). now its September, and she's 6 months pregnant due in mid December, we're having a boy. time is flying. still doesn't seem real at times. Very excited but also very nervous as to what the fuck we are getting ourselves into...

What do y'all do for child care? We held off on daycare this year given her health situation but coordinating with a nanny and family got too stressful after just one week. She ended up handling covid like a champ but we can't get in anywhere plus daycares are already closing again. We're both looking at flex/work-from-home jobs since we tried being on one income last spring and it was hell.
On the other hand, I get to take off Friday since no one can watch her, and that kinda rocks imo.

My daughter goes to the nursery/kindergarten since she was 5 months old. This year and last year it was tough as the nursery closed for some months due to covid.
As our families live far, we had to work in seperate shifts so one of us was with her. The first shutdown was nearly 4 months, only got quality time as a family during weekends. This year it was maybe a month and a half, but rough as it was during February and March, the weather was really shitty, we didn't do much activities outside.

Our daughter started kindergarten when she was about 1,5, which is pretty standard here in Sweden. We live outside of the city and didn’t get a place at a kindergarten out here until now so she wen't to one in the city. We start introduction at the new one next week, which will be good cuz she get’s to be with kids that live in the same area and can start making friends.
