First ER trip for the boy today. Let his legs get a little too fast for him running down a slant and wen't head first into a tire. 3 stitches dead center in his forehead. He did great, was more worried about mom.

Anyone dealt with low self esteem? My boy is 5 and he’s a little black cloud, it’s breaking me. He’s always the worst, ugliest, useless, etc.

Jeez. Have you checked in at school or wherever else he socializes? I feel like a kid wouldn't be saying those things unless he was hearing that kind of talk elsewhere.

One of my daughters gets like that a little because her older sister is like naturally great at everything she tries so I always point out all the stuff she is good at. She has the biggest heart ever and makes friends with everyone while her sister has a chip on her shoulder. It's always a fine line between lifting one up and putting the other down. I agree with sorely though that it's probably some shit he's hearing from other kids.

UGHHHH the worst feeling.

I think most of it stems from other kids at school telling her she has big teeth etc. We just continue to gas her up all the time and tell her she's rad, cute, fun, funny etc to try to boost it.

I say, "Come on!" a lot ala Gob from Arrested Development and now the eighteen month old has grabbed onto it. Throws her arms up in the air and everything. This is the shit I live for.

My 4 year old is having the same issues, he can't do anything right, he's a bad son, etc. It's awful, like others have mentioned we just try to gas him up and teach him patience and resilience but I think we might be heading to a therapist in the future if the spring and summer doesn't pick up.

I put my daughter (almost 3) in her carseat this morning and she smiled so big at me and goes, “do you like your fancy new sweatshirt daddy?”
A) Yes I do B) I didn’t think it was possible to love anything or one as much as I love this fucking kid.

My wife's been out of town for work, and my daughter (11) has been more affectionate than usual I'm not sure if it's because she needs the extra attention that she's missing from her mom, or if she knows that I need it, but I'll take it either way Also, car rides are the best. Not sure what it is about it, but since she's been old enough to talk, driving in the car is when we always have our best conversations. Probably due to her being bored, and a lack of distractions, so she's forced to engage with me.

Also did yall use a stroller in the first few months?
We are trying to decide what to get and having a terrible time. We live up a pretty big set of steps, so my wife would like something light. Id eventually like to get something to take the kid running with me. Is it worth buying two, struggling with the weight or just forgetting the running aspect until hes old enough (>8m, at least).
We were looking at the thule spring vs urban glide 2

We did Doona and LOVED it. Did not need a traditional stroller until post 12-mo.

We were looking at the thule spring vs urban glide 2 We have had strollers that recline (think that’s the correct wording?) for both our kids and it’s great if you want to go for longer walks when the baby is sleeping. We also have combined cycle/running trailer (like a thule but a cheaper variant) that’s been great for running, but there’s no reclining feature so I had to wait til they were stable enough to sit up before I could take them with me on a run.

Yeah, we were trying to figure out if a recline option was enough or if a bassinet was necessary. Theyre veey popular here.
A fried recommended a yoyo, similar to the doona but when we tried one it was way too small for me, felt real uncomfortable.

Oh bassinet is the word I was looking for! Yeah we had one of those. We have had a 3 in 1 stroller that you can put both bassinet, car seat and the reclining one on.

Definitely get one with the car seat option, that's all I have to recommend

A fried recommended a yoyo, similar to the doona but when we tried one it was way too small for me, felt real uncomfortable. We did the 3 in one and gradually worked from bassinet, to car seat, now to the normal regular stroller seat. Worked great and the bassinet is said to be best for baby the first few months

pillow talk with a 7yo (who is board personified)
“Mom when was ‘dick’ invented?” “Around the same time as the name Richard” “What year, about, was Richard invented and how long did it take before a penis became a dick?” “Before Christ. BC.” “is Richard related to Balls?” “yeah they’re cousins” “so I have cousins on my body?” “yeah they’re always in your heart” “so i have a dick in my heart?” “it’s time for bed, i’m tired” “ok, one more thing! want to hold hands and fall asleep together?” “yes. you need a muzzle” “what is a muzzle?”

We were looking at the thule spring vs urban glide 2 We bought a cheap stroller right away for our first and I remember taking him for walks around the neighbourhood within a couple of weeks (as soon as the snow cleared). My wife also employed various wraps and carriers. We regretted getting a cheap stroller at first, but ended up buying a thule bike trailer with stroller/jogging attachments for when they were 8+ months and now we use that exclusively, so much better (but also wayyy more expensive).
