Lady Gagaβs album βChromaticaβ was misunderstood by the critics cuz hyperpop was not fully developed in the mainstream at that time, so it was judged as a too βglossyβ for a pop album. I get what she was going for tho and I think βRain On Meβ is one of her strongest singles.

Saw The Word Alive/Hawthorne Heights/Anberlin last night. Stephen Christian's last show with the band before he cums hard for Jesus full time. Rocked up just after The World Alive finished up, spent half an hour chatting shit with friends in the beer garden, got a bottle of water and parked myself on a seat and watched Hawthorne Heights. Tight band, haven't listened to them since If Only You Were Lonely back in 2006. wen't back outside and had a smoke, and had a drunk dude try to fight me because I was wearing a glassjaw shirt and he thought it was some other streetwear brand. Australian brodudes are weird - who the fuck is tanked drunk at 6pm?
Wen't back inside with another bottle of water for Anberlin. Man, that band fucking rules. Tight as ever, minimal Christian shit in the set, and just played the hits (mostly from Friendships and Cities). I keep forgetting how enjoyable they are to watch. I kept having Anton Ego flashbacks to my younger years going to shows and being around friends. That band has been a staple through some pretty heavy shit in my life, and I'll always be greatful for their music despite having aged out of it. Show finished up by 10, I was home by 11.

Somehow I feel like I am committing some sort of hate crime listening to this song but it goes too hard: Peep the communism thread for other bangers. I fell into a rabbit hole of old nationalist songs, they go hard for no reason. Check out this banger. Btw this one isn't very friendly towards muslims, communists, and Turks lol.

Do ya'll dance? If so, what are your go to moves? Is there a song that comes on at a wedding or party where you're like "Oh shit, gotta dance to this right now"? Is it Return of the Mack? Thank you for any and all responses.

I've been on yet another kick of listening to the Sound a lot (currently have Jeopardy playing on my laptop), and every time I get on a Sound kick I'm struck by how aggressive their music is compared to most post-punk bands. I'm not comparing them to Swans or Killing Joke, obviously, but for their style within post-punk, they lean pretty heavily into first-wave punk, and even just into hard rock at times. Multiple songs on this album have lengthy guitar solos, and Adrian Borland usually hits the strings so hard that I can hear the pick striking them.
And this is at every point in their career, too. I'm baked and switched up to Shock of Daylight, their first release after getting dropped by WEA. It's considerably more sophisticated (especially the synth arrangements), but it's still audibly pissed off, still dissonant, with the vocals always just on the verge of shouting. If this had come on when I was going to Eighties night regularly (roughly 2002 to 2005, before I knew who they were), I and probably four others would've been very into it, and the other 120 people there would've had their vibe harshed for several minutes. Bummer that the very qualities that kept the Sound distinct probably contributed to their relative obscurity. But they truly rule, and I'm glad to see that they've become somewhat better known in recent years.

Not sure this is the best thread but has anyone ever built an mp3 player for an audioset up?
Ive been looking into making a raspberry pi with a little touch screen to leave hook up to mt receiver in the living room, with just all my digital music. From what I can find, mp3 players are either too expensive for anything of ok quality or super limited in size. I dont stream and dont want to upload my music to a network, would prefer to just put it on an sd card and insert/update when necessary. Anyone smarter than me and can push me in the right direcrionm

how do you currently maintain your collection? I think streaming it to the Pi would be preferable to storing it all locally on the SD card

I think streaming it to the Pi would be preferable to storing it all locally on the SD card I have it on an external harddrive (probably 500gb worth, give or take), that I connect to my laptop when I go. Otherwise zi have a 256gb sd card in my phone and rotate music every few months. Why would streaming be easier? Besides the pi requiring some sort of display, if I stored locally.

I figured if you had a server/desktop thatβs always on you could manage your collection there, stream it to the Pi, and then not have to swap the SD card back and forth to update it. you could also then use an app on your phone to control/queue up tunes on the Pi, though Iβm sure you can do that regardless of the storage method. powering down the Pi, fishing out the SD card, putting it into the computer, moving music over, etc, just kinda seems like a hassle to me, especially if youβre keeping up with new shit regularly coming out
