Everything is a blur and I'm drunk, but in some thread, someone said RATM only has a few good songs. very much disagree. but up til now I strictly only listened to evil empire and battle of Los angeles, kinda writing off their s/t off as "dated." Well fuck I was wrong. Lol. Threw it on for shits, only to be like "holy shit." Like.... this came out in 92?!! shit man. it's perfect. and their best. s/t has one of the best "side B"s of any LP. Everything from Bullet to the Head on is a fucking banger. 100% i threw it on at work, sorta calloused, like "i liked this in 6th grade, lets see if it makes me feel things" and as it kept going, it just kept getting better. definitely their most consistent record.

I'm also in the camp of Evil Empire > S/T but dated is the last thing you could call it, that shit sounds pristine without sounding sterile. Pretty sure that's one of the records that most car companies will use to test stereo systems lol...glad you see the light

I fuck with Rage super hard but what’s funny to me is how stupid a lot of the riffs are. none of that chromatic pentatonic shit would make it out of my bedroom

Yeah theres something about the self titled that's just perfect. I remember seeing the video for Freedom when I was a kid and my mom let me buy the album shortly after. Definitely shaped my taste in music. The recording sounds perfectly balanced but also raw. Looking up their early shows on youtube is pretty interesting. They just sound so tight right out of the gate. I was actually listening to Inside Out last night and thinking I wish they'd released a full length.

It's crazy how good they were, pretty might right away. I was watching some festival performance from 1993 on YouTube last night and it's really tight. And it had that same sort of...kind of chaotic, but polished, that the album had.

I feel like 2002/2003 were the best years for death metal. So many bangers. The production was better in those days as well.

I like how pretty much 95% of people I've seen using AI to make music just make songs about poo

I've been going through a big nostalgia trip of non-hardcore bands/albums that were big for me around highschool graduation. Stuff like ATDI, SDRE, Grade, Moneen, Burning Airlines, etc. Interesting to see what holds up and what doesn't.
