I finished the drywall in my shop this winter, which wasn't even a big job. Never again. Happy to pay just to avoid getting that shit on me/my tools and probably in my lungs despite the mask.

I am redoing our garage apartment and needed to hang 40 sheets. Paid 3 guys $1800 and they knocked it out in 3 days, whereas it would have taken me over a month to do alone and I would have absolutely botched it. Their price includes hang, tape, float and texture. Drywall is about the only thing I will farm out every single time. Getting the float and texture to look right is an art form.

Don't panic just yet. Quite often it is just a capacitor that costs $15 and is like 3 screws and a couple of wire connectors to fix. Very easy. Happened to me several times.

AC has been out for the last week and a half and the warranty company is being so shitty and slow. What the fuck do I do chat? It's a fuckin heat wave and we've got one portable air condition that can only do one room at a time. It was 92 fucking degrees in my room last night please help.

Poured rain this morning and I have a leak so that sucks. Hoping some black tar over a crack between shingles and flashing fixes it.

Is this a home warranty company? You're better off putting the money spent on that in to an emergency fund. They use the absolute worst contractors and they are incentivized to do the absolute bare minimum and often will say the issue isn't covered. They are a complete scam and then of course as you're learning they have insane scheduling issues. I would ask them if you can just call your own AC guy and get reimbursed.

“We” (allegedly!) forgot to change the filter for quite some time, which caused some weird backup or yadda yadda, and now we need to replace two compressors (condenser? Idk). Soooo, great day for me to spend $20k. Oh btw they want 50% today.

i remember when my sister moved into her current place a few years ago i was over there helping her with stuff and there was a brand new ac filter in the closet next to the unit so i was like well might as well change it and the old one was so clogged and stuck in there i could barely pry it out. she told me the next day the ac was little twice as cold as before

Again, I don't know if we're talking single mini split, whole house VRF, dx coils in ducted system. But assuming all the backbone is there it should be a recharge and component replacement at best

we had mini splits installed when we moved in 6 years ago. they keep the house COOL but suck for heat. we have v high ceilings and the pellet stove heats almost everything and what it doesn’t, baseboard heaters. i know the price was around 5k and we got 2500 back from a rebate. that said, our electric bill is absurd in the winter,
