Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread earlier. Have any of you worked with peel and stick wallpaper before? Any tips? I'm just doing a small accent wall in the future baby's room. The paper itself actually is pretty nice. My smoothing job on the first strip as I got halfway down started to turn to shit. Sam was doing a better job but was ready to stab someone and gave up...so now my plan is to wait for some help from my sister lol. I mean, at least it is busy enough it hides some of the creases. Poor quality photo, but you get the idea.

Wallpaper is such a nightmare. We tried to do it ourselves once and now I just hire someone with more patience.

personally, i’d shoot a line laser on the wall and follow that, but you probably don’t have one 😬

Tried doing an accent wall in the bedroom and matching up the pattern on each piece was a nightmare.

Got an estimate set up for Friday for our slate roof. Hoping it’s not gonna be a huge bill

I love that era of house, but even thinking about the cost of replacing a slate roof or plaster lath was enough to put me off buying one.

Wallpaper is such a nightmare. We tried to do it ourselves once and now I just hire someone with more patience. this. it would likely be a cheap job for an accent wall and add it to the “all done” pile.

Got an estimate set up for Friday for our slate roof. Hoping it’s not gonna be a huge bill slate is incredibly expensive. is your existing roof slate and you’re just getting repairs? or you’re getting a price on a new slate roof?

Should I stop being a lil bitch and cut the rest of the porch off tomorrow or leave the framing until professionals fix it? Confused by what's going on here--are they planning to leave those sistered 2x8s as posts? What's the ultimate plan for the porch?

Whole porch except for roof needs replaced.
I am doing the demo work because insurance is fucking me pretty bad. I braced the roof 5x, rented a dumpster and started using a sawzall/prybar to destroy it.
Tomorrow the porch will either all be cut off or the roof will have caved in on my head killing me.

Brother, I hate saying/admitting it, but whenever you commit to projects like this you always end up a) running into countless additional frustrations than you anticipated and b) noticing shit you could have done better after the fact. Unless you're strapped, just pay somebody else.

Honestly unless you're a major porch monkey I would rip out the porch, have some concrete steps put in and plant a garden.

Have a little faith in me.

I have considered having someone build pillars like this and installing concrete steps. Just don’t know if it would looks ridiculous w/the whole roof there.
