Every summer I spot a new colony of carpenter ants. This time it was the shed. After taking a look I saw signs of damage throughout so who knows how long they’ve been in there.

Had some professional grade gel from Amazon on hand that does the trick. Just gets me worried that I always end up finding them every year.

so back on this topic, this is the stairwell going down to my basement. there was a 1/4-3/8” step in this wall from the existing framing and box beam i had to feather out 2’ to blend it in and hide it what a pain in the ass

Insurance first payment was about 1/4th of what I expected to pay for my porch replacement. Screamed at a few people over the phone for a few hours. Having to do supplemental payouts with builder estimates which has been pretty annoying. Still haven’t received a single check yet. Think the entire project will be about 20k. So far progressive has only cut me 11600 in checks.

Been slowly chopping up landscaping and squirreling it away in the city dumpsters. Got a hammer from MIL house and busted up the precast cement steps today. Figured doing shit like this should save me a few dollars.

Hopefully I get enough insurance money to at least rebuild the porch. Stairs, landscaping and mailbox I can pay out of pocket if I have to. Which sucks but whatever. My porch was old and rotting out anyways. So this might work out in my favor provided I get up to about 18k from insurance total. New front of house for maybe 3k out of pocket isn’t that bad.

Me and my wife wen't shopping for a bedroom set and a new Mattress yesterday. Had one in mind, immediately fell in love with a different one and ended up pulling the trigger.

However, we we have 3 bedrooms all of similar size, one has an attached half bath, we were planning on painting it and moving all the new furniture into it and using it as our new bedroom but we didn’t measure the new furniture and one of the dressers is 6 inches to big.

The original plan was to make our old bedroom the guest bedroom, keep the third bedroom as our office and move into the one with the bathroom that we have been fixing up.

Now the Office will have the half bath, the old office becomes the guest room, and we’re sticking in the same bedroom but repainting it and fixing it up.

So now I have to paint and fix shit in 3 rooms and clear all the shit our of them instead of just the one.

My mom and niece were supposed to come visit last weekend but cancelled last minute. Had been panic cleaning my house for a week being terrified of my mom coming to over to find my house dirty. Once they cancelled and everything was already clean, that allowed me to move shit around and tighten the house up more.

I had been selling shit online and on fb marketplace for a while now so the house is so less cluttered. Feeling good about the front room, basement and my dressing room.






We had wanted to take these back steps off for a while and just screen in the back balcony. Just started doing that shit this morning at 8am. Ran to MIL’s house to grab a saw to complete that task. Sitting here while wife talks to MIL, waiting to go home.




Since I got an estimate for front precast cement steps, I had them quote me for the back too. Got those installed this week. Feels nice to not step on rotting warped wood stairs coming and going now.

though that picture is super old and now the walls are lined with shelving and corkboard and there’s more furniture etc i call it her “ladycave”
