The street behind my mom was renamed Adam West Way after he died cuz it’s the street he grew up in. I grew up in his aunt and uncle’s house.

Zombie Nightmare sucks but it was on MST3K and the head bad guy in it just directed Deadpool and Wolverine which is fucking wild. With Tia Carrere, Adam West being a trooper and Jon Mikl Thor. With Motorhead on the sound track. "YEAH MY HAIR IS FROSTED, WHAT ABOUT IT?" "We're looking for one large angry individual"

Fuck I would have had a boom box with this on repeat every time I left the house. When I was like 5 my uncle recorded Batman on a VHS from tv. Was pretty neat to feel like a small part of that world a few years later when we moved to his hometown. It’s corny, but whatever. Don’t even get me started on jumping the stone wall of Peter Buck’s historic mansion under the cover of night in late October for a cursory jog around the premises. It was three blocks or so from my house. He had the place for a few years before he got divorced. The moon was so bright that night, the grounds and house were completely illuminated.

prob gonna watch trick 'r treat tonight as well. maybe Halloween III but wife doesn't enjoy it as much as i do. i'd love to watch something i've never seen, but damn that's hard to find lately. this looks very interesting, only heard about it recently but might try and find it sometime Zombie Nightmare sucks but it was on MST3K and the head bad guy in it just directed Deadpool and Wolverine which is fucking wild. With Tia Carrere, Adam West being a trooper and Jon Mikl Thor. With Motorhead on the sound track. RLM just did a spotlight on their halloween episode, seemed insane.

Gremlins 2 was better than the original. Ehhhh, that’s a hard one. Friday the 13th 1-8 are basically the same movie, so it’s easy to compare. With Gremlins 2, what angle are you taking? Purely more entertaining? Or appreciating it for pissing away a big budget at the altar of satirical or sarcastic anarchy? What I’m saying is, some of the enjoyment comes from the idea of the movie or the intention. Both rule, but Gremlins is just a little lightning in a bottle movie to me. Perfectly captures aspects of classic cinema and the setting and tone fit like a cozy mitten.

My big gripe with Gremlins is Judge Reinhold’s character being left on the cutting room floor. I’ve never looked into it, but I assume he has more scenes in the script. If not, that’s poor screenwriting.

The second one is just more fun in the idea of Gremlins by definition causing chaos plus its pretty funny. Gremlins 2 tone fits as a horror comedy. You could see the bits of that in the first one.

Dog Soldiers 2002 sounds like shit right? But might be one of the better character studies I've seen in a while despite its low budget. I might have stopped watching if not for Ser Davos of Seaworth.

Watched it just after seeing The Descent. Movie was so good I immediately checked imdb when I got home to see what else he directed. It rocks.

I will continue Halloween celebrations tonight since yesterday was kind of a drag with working 12 hours and only watching one movie. Probably will watch Halloween 6. It’s the first in the franchise I ever saw and will always hold a special place in my heart. Think I will go with the producer’s cut. I might change my mind, especially if I have new movies waiting for me on my doorstep when I get home, but that’s the plan for now.

Centurion is alright as well, just comes off as a little low calorie for a historical thriller.

Nostalgia aside, I think it has a great Halloween/fall atmosphere and holds up decently if you can stomach the thorn cult shenanigans. The theatrical cut is more violent, especially that massacre towards the end, while the producer’s cut has more scenes with Loomis which is always a good thing. Paul Rudd as Tommy Doyle is cool, his performance is so weird.

Halloween 6 is a fun ride. Do any of you follow the With Gourley & Rust podcast with comedians/actors Paul Rust and Matt Gourley? the whole podcast is them doing like 3+ hour episodes where they breakdown horror movies and each season they will dedicate to a specific franchise or director. However, they also have fun random episodes for their patreon people and on one of them it was them watching both versions of Halloween 6 side by side on two tvs and doing a commentary as both played simultaneously and it was so fucking funny

Even tho I enjoy both, upon my rewatch this year of Halloween 4 and 5 I can understand why people were so disappointed with 5, especially at the time of its release. They throw away the Jamie being evil angle away pretty much entirely in the 5th, which is what people liked about 4 was that ending, the introduction of the meandering thorn cult that just confused people, and loomis is just… not loomis in it idk. I get he’s like been through so much to that point as a a character but his behavior in the movie just doesn’t fit for me. The mask is truly the worst one in 5 as well, it’s quite distracting.

Yeah I dont like 5. Also making Jamie mute was frustrating because she put on a really solid performance in 4. Best thing in the 5th one is Michael driving that girl to the gas station when hes pretending to be the boyfriend.

Paul Rust is very sweet by nature and it makes Matt a little sweeter and it creates a very fun atmosphere as far as them going off on bits and riffs and such
